Okay, no surprise, obviously everyone here has heard about the open world thing with the new game, no news there.
What I’m curious about is how the open-world is going to affect the game as a whole, you know? From what I know, the previous FF games didn’t have an open-world concept. The way I’m imagining XV to go is more how ‘DA: Inquisition’ was “open world” while still following a hard-core storyline. Basically, I don’t expect it to be anything like ‘Skyrim’, ‘Fallout 4’, or even ‘No Man’s Land’.
I mean, I don’t even know if I should have a public stance on this -- I’m probably not even gonna play the game (or even have time if I seriously wanted to). Still, my interest comes from how awesome I think open world games are.
Whether this is relevant or not, I’m a gemini, and a common stereotype is that we love change / to wander. I happen to follow that stereotype -- I freaking love to wander and explore and completely ignore the questline. So in my humble opinion? I think the open-world concept is going to be tons of fun and a general success for the FF franchise.
As Hajime Tobata said,
“If you do it like that, then you won’t get tired of the open world, and as the whole game becomes more focused, you can enjoy a traditionally ‘Final Fantasy’ style progression.”

Fingers crossed it'll live up to the hype!

I'm confused as to what you mean by the previous games did not have an open world concept...... Ummmmmm that's false. Until FF started declining after FF10 most of all FF games were open world

Depending on the game yes and no.mostly if you found somewhere else u could go there but not do much until the story progressed

So imo that's open world as far as the story allows it to be, like a pseudo-open-world. Is XV's open world going to be like that, or something more sand-box like Skyrim? I'm curious as to why it seems like a big deal now, ya know? How is the XV's open world different from the open world of previous FF games?

It's a big deal because FF steered away from open world after FFX
