Hey everyone, CDS here with the third chapter of his Splatoon x My Hero Academia crossover. I decided to stop long intros, so let's get right into it.

Names and rescues
Rose: "Morning Sett."
Sett: "Morning Rose, Morning Poppy."
The Midoriya twins had been waiting for their new friend at the entrance of the school, before going to their classroom. Along the way, they had been speculating about what their first training might be. But as soon as class started, they received a surprise to say the least ...
"CHOOSING OUR NAMES?" The class shouted as a choir, with a mix of both joy and stress, as most were excited, but had also never really thought about what made a good hero name.
Joe: "Yes, as we'll use it to refer to you lot during trainings. The more you are used to being called with your hero name, the better for when you have become a hero. There are many things that make a hero name. But most squids and octos either pick one based on their personality traits, one based on their quirk or a combination. There are both villains and heroes who name themselves after their quirk itself. Just think of Chimera, a villain, or Overhaul, a hero."
Poppy could think of another example, but was glad Sensei didn't talk about it.
Joe: "Anyways, you get 30 minutes to think of something if you haven't already. Afterwards, you'll present your name in front of the others. Oh and before I forget it: your name should be your own. It's good to get some tips from your fellow students, but choose on your own."
But Poppy and Rose had been discussing hero names growing up, so they just continued their chat about what the first training might be. Sett was a bit nervous, but got calmed down when Rose told him to just take something simple yet powerful at the same time. When the 30 minutes ended, the students got picked randomly.
Melany: "The everything hero: Omnia."
With a confident smirk. Rose clearly was still angered over the stunt she pulled on Poppy yesterday, as she clenged her fists when the yellow inked girl presented her hero name.
Joe: "Alright Poppy, your turn."
Poppy took a deep breath.
Poppy: "The happy pacifist: Serenity."
Joe: "Rose."
Rose: "The fighting warrior: Knuckleduster."
Some other students presented their names, some confidently, some timidly.
Joe: "Sett, you're the last."
Sett also took a deep breath.
Sett: "The heat controller: Thermo."
Joe smiled afterwards.
Joe: "Might be the best round of names I've had in a long time. No stupid joke names, no overly complex names as well. Good, before we start the training, you'll have to put on your uniforms."
Everyone was waiting for this moment since they applied for IA: you needed to send a description of your hero suite and possible items as well.
Joe: "I'll lead you to the changing rooms. Afterwards we'll go the training grounds. As soon as we're there, I'll call you by your hero names and you'll have to adress me with Sensei as well. Got it?"
Everyone nodded.
"Good."
Poppy and Rose didn't really try to make a difference in their hero uniform: both were wearing an Octarian soldier outfit. The reason for this is because of their physical augmenting quirk: Octarian outfits are known for letting the wearer move smooth and freely. Since Poppy's quirk also offers a boost in durability and Rose's a boost in regeneration, there isn't much protection needed except for the metal chestplate. When Poppy would use her quirk at 100%, it hardly even matters what she's wearing. Sett had a black body suit made out of the heat resistant fibers he mentioned yesterday. What really got a lot of attention was Melany's uniform as it was arguably the most revealing uniform among the students. Melany noticed the looks she got.
Melany: "Don't look so curious, smallfries. You'll see the reason for it when I am going to use my quirk."
Rose wanted to strike a nerve on Melany, but she didn't get to it when Sensei called them to come with him.
After a little walk outside, they reached the training ground: a replica of the inner centre of Inkopolis. Sensei lead them to a building resemmbling the ammo factory, arguably the biggest building Inkopolis has in of space.
Joe: "Alright students, we'll be doing rescue training today. I decided I wanted to see what you can do with your quirks on your own, before looking at possible quirk training. This training will be straightforward: I hid 2 dummies inside this factory. You'll be divided into 2 groups and each group will have to try finding one dummy within 30 minutes. As soon as you find one, you can push the button on its head and bring it back with you. I know it sounds like a short run, but you won't get a time like that when lifes are really at stake, so I hope to see a tactical approach to get this done in less time. I might give some bonus points. Any questions?"
Some arms raised.
Joe: "If it's about possible risks, you're heroes in the making now. If you can't even handle the riks of getting a bruise, you might as well leave this school right now."
And the arms went down.
Joe: "Good, lets get you into groups then."
Poppy got seperated from her sister and got Melany on her team, team 1. She worried a bit until Sett got assigned to her group as well, putting her more at ease.
Joe: "Team 1, you'll go first. Your time starts ... now!"
As he started his stopwatch.
Melany: "I suggest going in pairs, with each pair taking one of these with them."
Everyone of team 1 was curiously watching how certain areas of Melany's exposed skin started to glow and their jaws dropped as top-level flashlights emerged from them.
Melany: " It might be dark in there, so they might come in handy. You can thank me when I find the dummy." Before taking a flashlight herself and rushing into the building.
Poppy: "So much for going in pairs for her."
Sett: "We're the team with 7 , she knows it and wants to prove she can do it alone, but leaves us the flashlights to at least get in a role in case any of us find it. W-wanna form a duo?"
Poppy: "Sure thing."
The duo went for the place they thought had the highest chance of hiding the dummy: the storage rooms in the basements. Their guess got more certain, as the door happened to be stuck.
Sett: "May I?"
He placed his hand on the door which got frozen in five seconds.
Sett: "After you, Serenity."
Poppy nodded. She went for a 15% joy output on her finger. One flick was enough to break the frozen door in many pieces.
Poppy: "Good teamwork Thermo."
They both chuckled a little, but immediately focussed on their goal again.
Sure enough, after 5 minutes, they came across the dummy covered under debris from a wall in the northern basement. Poppy slightly hated to it it, but the flashlights from Melany had been their saving grace. They wouldn't have seen much without them, since Thermo couldn't use his quirk for too long as the absorbed heat he had was limitted. When he wanted to pull the dummy out of it, the other half of he wall was about to crash onto him if it wasn't for Poppy pushing him out of the way, but getting hit by a rock on her head in the process.
Poppy: "You can't just pull people out of a spot like this, Thermo. It's better to remove the debris carefully, stone per stone if needed."
Sett was heavily breathing.
Sett: "Cod that was so stupid, Serenity I am so sorry, your head ..."
Poppy now noticed the wound bleeding and also leaking ink on her head ... and the pain. She completely forgot to activate her quirk during her save, which would have given her the durability she needed.
Poppy: "That's a problem for later, now we've got to focus on this. You think you can freeze the main part of this debris like that door?"
Sett nodded.
Poppy: "Then let's do an encore ..."
To her surprise: the door tactic worked. The main part of the debris got crushed into frozen pieces just like the door, making it easier and safer to pull the dummy.
Joe: "Alright team 1, 20 minutes needed, not bad all. Good job Thermo, Serinity and Melany. I didn't think anyone would go the basement that fast, let alone have an efficient lightning device. Anyways, team 2, time to get ready. Thermo, you want to guide Poppy to the nurse right?"
Sett: "It is my responsibility Sensei, I'll make sure she gets there safe."
Before they left, Rose waved at her sister with a worried face.
Poppy: "I'll be fine little sis! Good luck!"
When they arrived to the Nurse's office and Poppy entered, she got surprised big time. Sitting behind a desktop reading a book was a female inkling with lime-coloured ink of about 20 years, wearing a dark green bomber jacket with purple fur on the neck, but a black shirt with white tie underneath, an interesting combo of being casual yet business-like as well. But the most striking feature was her mask: a red plague mask with golden sides covered the lower half of her face. This was Overhaul, the number 3 pro hero at the moment. Poppy forgot to speak and was still surprised until she got noticed.
Overhaul: "An injury on the first training? Gotta be a bit more careful kid."
Poppy got pulled back into reality.
Poppy: "Sorry miss, but I got this when saving a friend. Can you do something about it?"
Overhaul: "Just call me Overhaul or Haul for short. And to answer your question: come a bit closer and I'll fix it."
She said while taking off one of the white gloves she was wearing. She placed her fingers around the injury.
Overhaul: "This is going to sting a bit."
For about 1/10th of a second, Poppy felt an immeasurable pain before her head felt normal again, as if the injury had never been there. Overhaul used a towel to clean up the blood and ink which had run over her face.
Overhaul: "Good as new, kid. Take care, alright?"
Poppy: "Yes mi ... Haul."
She stammered before leaving the office, a bit embarassed but also excited.
Once school got finished, the Midoriya twins reunited, said goodbye to Sett and left to the station.
Rose: "I expected you to have a big bruise pop. That nurse having some kind of healing ability?"
Poppy chuckled.
"I'll tell you on the train."
