Chapter 1: The Birth Of A Star. (Sonic And The South Island Incident.)-[CB]Sonic The Hedgehog
[C]And The South Island Inciden

Once upon a time…

In another world, in the midst of space, there floated a big, blue planet known as Mobius.

(Whether it still floats there to this day is unbeknownst to me.)

Shimmering, Glimmering, this planet would shine in the sun like a radiant Gem.

Full of magic, this planet was. Magic so great that it could move mountains and part seas if it wanted to. Strange and wonderful phenomenons were on full display everywhere, and yet despite the chaos that that fact showed, this planet was not too disimilar to our own little planet earth.

Many islands and continents of diverse, colourful Zones floated around on this planet, amongst a vast sea of ever shifting water.

Somewhere in this sea which would glisten like an ocean of blue pearls lied one secluded little island. A distinctly funny place known as Christmas Island.

It was a tiny and unusual island, unlike any others.

Finding the right words to paint this island with would be difficult.

I bet you anything your mind could come up with would suit it just fine.

The population of this island consisted of small, friendly animals with names usually ending with a “Cky,” and a most peculiar race of creatures known as Mobians.

Mobians were fairy-like life forms.

From head to tail they bore the resemblance to animals such as cats, dogs, rabbits, hedgehogs, any animal you may name off the top of your head.

The key differences were that they had hands and feet, and were able to speak and think just like their neighbours, the humans (who also resided on this planet.)

Mobians were often rather small and yet had surprising strength and agility, with their feet being swift and quick as the wind.

Here on this tidy little island, these mobians lived in peace and tranquility.

No robots or industrialistic factories were present. Just forests and hills which the mobians would reside in. They would traditionally wear clothes of red and white, just like good old Santa Claus, (hence why it was called Christmas Island.)

Now, somewhere on this island was a little forest village. On the edge of this village lied a cozy, little, wooden hut, wherein lived a tight-knit couple of mobians. Two Hedgehogs (One of the rarest types of mobian) who’s names were Aleena and Wind.

Aleena was a kind hearted and peace loving soul. She was fair of heart and cared for all things around her. It’s likely that in another world she could have been a great queen, was it not for her anxious and timid nature.

Her mate, Wind, was a much braver hedgehog, with a love for cracking jokes and all that. He was a fighter pilot, and had the duty of protecting the island from danger almost every day.

Together Aleena and Wind lived on Christmas Island in their wooden hut all by themselves, though soon that was going to change, for Aleena had gotten word from their nurse (Miss. Needles the Porqupine,) that The Stork was going to pay them a visit, and with it it was going to bring some hoglets. She didn’t know exactly how many hoglets, but it was likely going to be more than one.

Wind was very excited about this news.

“I’m going to be a father! Oh boy!” He said as he staggered around restlessly.

Aleena was not quite as enthusiastic about this. She had heard rumors that The Stork was a very frightening figure. That they could pierce holes through your soul, and could even put you in danger if they wanted to. Aleena had always tried to play safe and secure, so now her life was at risk and she was dreadfully nervous.

This is likely the reason why, on June 23, she woke up frightfully early in the morning from a terrible nightmare.

Looking out the window, she could see that the sun was beginning to rise in it’s dark twilight. Aleena had a feeling inside which said The Stork was going to arrive today. She began to panic and sweat an awful lot. She wanted to curl herself into a ball and stay there for the rest of the day, but she knew it would do no good, as there was no delaying The Stork.

To put her mind at ease, she decided to go outside and take a little run in the morning twilight. She carefully snuck out of bed (trying not to wake up her sleeping mate) and went outside.

It was a peaceful and tranquil morning. One half of the sky was dark Blue and glistened with stars, but on the far horizon the Golden Sun could be seen slowly rising, bathing the sea and what it could reach in an Orange glow. The clouds in the sky turned a Pinkish Red upon their entry to the Sun which turned the many islands and Floating Platforms* in the distance into Shadow Puppets on an endless stage.

“What a beautiful morning.” Aleena said to herself as she went, though it was not quite enough to relieve her of her tension, so she decided to run through the forest, crossing through the shadows of the trees.

In the forest, life was beginning to bustle.

The Flickies* had woken up and were chirping their morning tunes, while the Rickies* were energetically crawling around the trees with their fluffy tails sticking out, no doubt looking for a bite to eat or something.

On the island there was a little river which could be crossed over on a fallen log. Aleena carefully went across it and ran further on into a clearing, where the old remains of an ancient fountain lied.

Feeling much more relaxed, she stopped and took a deep breath, sniffing in the fresh morning air.

The little run had surely helped a bit, yet it was still not enough, as the thoughts of The Stork kept on coming back to her head with frightening detail.

They were slowly taking over yet again, when suddenly…

She heard a loud battering of Wings and felt a gust of wind swoop past, which made her heart bounce.

Looking up, she saw a huge white streak fly through the sky and turn towards her. It flew very fast. Quicker than anything she had seen in her life. As it approached her she was so stricken with terror that she curled into a ball.

Curled up, she expected it to go upon her and bite her heart out but… Much to her surprise, nothing happened and she instead heard a voice say “Don’t fret madame. I’m not going to hurt you.”

Carefully peaking out from her quills, Aleena saw a huge, glistening, white owl standing in front of her, with its Wings closed and big eyes rested upon her.

The eyes were Green and shimmered like Emeralds.

They didn’t seem vicious, but wise and friendly.

“Good morning.” The owl said cheerfully “I hope I didn’t frighten you.”

Aleena was torn between greeting it back or running away as fast as possible.

“W-Who are you?” She asked instead, still tense and fearful.

“You can call me anything you want, but most creatures call me Longclaw.”

“Longclaw…? What do you want?” Aleena asked.

“Oh, I’ve merely come to bring a little present for you.”

“A present?”

“Yes, for you and the little stars on their way. I hope you won’t mind that.”

Aleena thought in quiet consideration. Though Aleena knew that it was probably not the best idea to accept such a strange offer, something deep inside her told her the opposite.

Something about this owls gentle tone seemed sincere, a sense which was amplified when the owl replied “Of course, it’s your choice. If you don’t want it that’s fine. It’s unimportant either way.”

“Well…” Aleena said, making her decision “If it is a present for me and my children… then I think I should atleast have it…”

“Great.” The White Owl responded “Simply look into my eyes and you shall recieve it.”

As Aleena hesitantly peaked into Longclaws eyes, they suddenly shifted in colour. From green, to red, to yellow, and finally to blue. Then at that moment the owl spreaded its huge Wings wide and the strangest thing happened.

Swirling, dazzling colours came out from the Wings.

Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Cyan, Purple, White, all kinds of colours waved by Aleena in a great blur.

Floating orbs of light seemed to materialize and fly by, dissapearing behind her. Among all the colours she saw golden flickies, radiant lights and peppermint candies.

She felt entranced and pure inside. Beams of light came out from the owls eyes into Aleenas soul, giving her a warm feeling inside, like a candle had been lit in her heart.

Then in a second, it all faded away.

The owl closed it’s eyes and moved back it’s wings, shattering the trance.

Aleena found herself back on the grass, in front of the owl.

“I hope that wasn’t too unpleasant.” Longclaw said with a slight bow.

Aleena was speechless.

Longclaw then turned around and moved two steps back, spreading her wings and getting ready for take-off, but not before turning to Aleena and saying “Be sure to cherish them well. Give them the chance to run their own path and choose their own coarse, for life is a gift, so it’s best not to waste it.”

And then the owl flew back up into the sky as quickly as she came down, followed by some Rings and some flickies with silver and gold feathers.

By now, the sun had reached up to the top of the trees, bathing Aleena in it’s golden glow.

“…What in the world just happened?” She asked herself dumbfoundedly.

Whatever happened…

Whatever that owl did… it was truly one mystical event, unlike any she had seen before and she felt (strangely enough) more relaxed.

Suddenly, punching her back into reality, she felt a pain in her body and saw the figure of The Stork approach in the distance.

“Ah, It’s happening!” Aleena gasped.

She had to go back and tell Wind as soon as possible. And so she pressed on, quickly running back to the hut, still carefully crossing over the river, since she couldn’t swim.

Back home, Wind was wide awake and standing outside.

“Oh, There you are.” He said with a wave “I was wondering where you’d gone.”

“Wind, quick!” Aleena panted through the pain “It’s happening!”

“W-Wait, R-R-Really!?” Wind stammered.

He quickly took her to a safe place for the meeting to happen, and then fetched Miss. Needles for .

(Act 2)

Soon enough, the Stork arrived with it’s black and white wings and it’s long neck. In a safe patch of grass, Aleena lied in frightful anticipation as The Stork approached. It’s eyes were piercing and cold, staring into her soul.

The pain she felt was excrusiating, like sharp spikes piercing at her stomach, and yet Aleena gritted her teeth and pulled through. She didn’t know how she was able to do it. She had expected herself to scream and hide in this situation, but after her experience with the Owl, she felt calmer. Even the prospect of danger didn’t worry her.

In this moment, the more Aleena looked at The Stork, the less frightening it became.

It was what it was after all…

Just a Stork.

Aleena’s courage seemed to be rewarded as, after a few seconds, The Stork finally leaft and Aleena found herself with three weeping, little hoglets in her arms.

Miss. Needles observed them gently and wrapped them in handkerchiefs to keep them warm.

“Triplets.” She said with a smile, handing the hoglets back to their mother.

“T-triplets!?” Wind exclaimed.

“Yes, three beautiful, little hedgehogs. Two boys, one girl.” Needles said.

Wind looked like he was going to faint.

Indeed there were three little hoglets there, crying in the handkerchiefs.

Holding them, Aleena felt how they barely weighed anything at all.

When a hedgehog is born, they’ll be unable to see or hear for some time.

This period could last as long as a few months to a whole day, or an hour if lucky.

In this state, the eyes would remain closed and colourless, until the moment they gain their sight and sound, where they’d spring open.

Looking at these three newborn hedgehogs, tears of joy began rolling down Aleena’s cheeks.

An extreme sense of self-confidence took over, as she rocked the little hoglets to sleep.

It seemed to work, as they suddenly stopped their crying and relaxed.

One of the hoglets stood out to her however…

Among the three hoglets was one particular hoglet, with blue quills. Quills as blue as the sky. A rather rare color for a hedgehog to have.

This hoglet still seemed to be tense, jittering around back and forth. Aleena tried to cuddle it and caress it, but it didn’t seem to help.

Despite how hard Aleena tried, the blue little hoglet still wouldn’t stop crying, becoming so loud that Wind had to hold his ears.

Tears rolled down the hoglets cheeks as it seemed to shake restlessly.

It seemed almost like the hoglet was trying to open it’s eyes, as it’s eyelids were jittering impatiently.

“Maybe he’s trying to see.” Aleena supposed.

“What? Trying to see?” Wind asked incredulously “Did you drink the wrong coffee today, honey?”

“What! It’s just…”

The blue hoglet suddenly quieted down for a bit, still crying but just not quite as loud. There was almost an intense sense of focus in the hoglets eyelids as it closed them in…

Everything turned still as the blue hoglet stopped crying…

Aleena took a deep, relaxed breath as the silence fell down…

When suddenly…

Flick!

The blue hoglets eyelids suddenly went wide open, revealing a pair of green eyes that shimmered like Emeralds. This caught both Aleena, Wind and Miss. Needles by surprise.

The hoglet looked around at it’s surroundings, a smile appearing on it’s face as it looked up at the sky and began giggling.

“My, that was fast!” Needles said impressedly “In all my life, that’s the fastest I’ve seen a hedgehog begin to see.”

“A New Record?” Wind asked jokingly, to which Needles said “Uhh… Perhaps.”

Aleena stared at the hoglets eyes.

They were radiant and full of life. Sparkling with freedom and endless possibilities.

Aleena noticed how captivated the hoglet seemed to be with it’s surroundings, as it stared at everything with a blissfull expression. To help it, Aleena decided to lift him up to give him a clearer view of the world as the sun shined down on him.

It was at that moment that a name came to her mind.

A name of sound, of waves and of speed.

“I think I’ve thought of a name for him…” Aleena said, as the blue hoglet seemed to relax in her hands.

“I’ll call him… Sonic…”

Sonic The Hedgehog.
