Serina: Hi, I'm home.

Kian: How was the Farmer's Market?

Serina: It was alright. All the produce was sold, and I acquired some new customers.

Kian: That's great.

Serina: What's wrong? You look concerned.

Kian: It's Amelia... she came home not too long ago in tears.

Serina: What happened??

Kian: I don't know. I tried asking her, but she went straight to her room and locked the door. I can't get through to her.

Serina: Ok. Let me go up and try.

[Serina makes her way upstairs towards Amelia's room, gently knocking on her door]

Serina: [softly] Mia, honey. It's me.

[Quiet sniffles from the other side of the door can be heard.]

Serina: Please, sweetheart...I want to help. I don't want you to go through whatever it is alone.

[There are a few moments of silence. The door unlocks and slowly opens. Serina slowly walks in and sees Amelia sitting on the floor, eyes red and cheeks damp with tears]

Serina: Oh, darling...

[Serina sits down next to her. There's a few minutes of silence]

Serina: Talk to me, sweetheart. What's wrong?

Amelia: [whimpering] It's Theo...he's moving away.

Serina: Moving?

Amelia: To San Sequoia. It's so far away, mum.

Serina: It is. Did he say why?

Amelia: [sniffles] He's going to a private school there. His dad also got a new job.

Serina: Ah, I see. But you can always keep in touch. Give him a call sometimes, write...

Amelia: It won't be the same! It will never be the same. He's my best friend, Mum. He's my only best friend.

Serina: You have a few friends you speak to. It'll be ok.

Amelia: No! They're not Theo. Yes, I'm close with a few of them but compared to him... it's different. He understands and gets me better than any of them.

Serina: Is that all it is, darling? Or do you think you have a deeper bond with Theo?

Amelia: [nervous] What...what do you mean?

Serina: I think you know what I mean...

[Amelia hesitates. Her eyes brim with fresh tears as she gives a slow, trembling nod]

Amelia: [voice breaking] I don't want him to go!

Serina: I know, Mia. I know. It's hard when someone you love and care about leaves. But the love you have and the memories you've shared won't disappear. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience.

Serina: It will hurt now, but it'll get better. I promise you that.

Amelia: [tearful] I'm going to miss him so much...

Serina: [hugs tightly] I know you will. But you'll get through it. Your dad and I will help you.

Amelia: Thank you.
