Not So Berry - Plum Gen in a nutshell

Primrose Berry grew up having the most ive family anyone could wish for at her age. Her fathers let her learn through trial and error and let her decide for herself while at the same time always showing her and she grew up conscious of her skills and of her various talents.

However, Prim's biggest flaw was one that really bothered her: she wasn't good at taking decisions. She'd always try to postpone them as much as she could and it wasn't rare to see her doubt her own decisions before she even made them.

When her grandmother Yasmin suddenly ed away from an heart attack, however, Primrose quickly made the decision to move in Brindelton Bay with her widowed, aging grandfather.

Part of her did it because she wished to help him feel better, another because she longed for a bit of independence from the sometimes overwhelming constant parenting of Grayson.

Kiyoshi was more than happy to have someone forcing him to not slack off, as he said himself, because the less he did the more he thought of his wife. It didn't help that her urn was literally in his bedroom.

Prim also decided to get a part time job in order to save enough money to continue her studies after High School. She had thought long and hard about which degree to get and was torn between Fine Arts and Biology. While she decided, though, she accepted a place as a cook in a local fast food restaurant to save money.

When she wasn't working or studying, Prim could be found somewhere in Brindelton Bay hanging out with her usual friends Jayce, Bianca and Thorne. Brindelton was just half an hour of train ride from Willow Creek, even though Grayson used to say that it was too far away for them to visit every day -in hindsight, he probably just wasn't as over his lonely childhood as he thought to be.

The twins became full fledged teenagers in this period of time. Chaim didn't really think he was ready for double the mess that Prim used to leave behind, but the boys turned out to be neater than their sister.

At this time, she found out to have the biggest crush on Thorne. She still didn't believe most of what he said about his family -she often wondered why he said such blatant lies- but couldn't deny that he was smoking hot. She initially decided that focusing on school was the best decision for now, but quickly changed her mind when he revealed that her feelings were returned. No one thought anything of it since she was known to change her mind constantly.

In the end, just as her days in high school were running out, Prim decided for the college study that would provide her with a better job: Biology. She sent her application in hope to be accepted and also decided to apply for a bunch of scholarships.

None of her friends had applied, but it was ok, she couldn't wait to make more friends once her grandfather felt well enough to live on his own again.

As it turns out, fate had different plans for both of them. She found him laying dead on the front yard one night. They said it was a sudden, fatal heart attack much like the one that had taken Yasmin's life a couple of years before. Some time later, when the wound was not as fresh anymore, Prim wondered if it had just been Yasmin's desire to see him again that made him cross before his time was up.

A little ceremony was held for him and he was buried in the backyard, next to his spouse, just like Michaela, Monty, Psaro and Rouge had been before him.

As a downside of this situation, though, Prim now lived in a huge arse suburban house whose bills she couldn't afford, but that she didn't want to leave as ir would just stay closed forever since none of the three children who inherited it were interested in living in it. Her friends came to the rescue with their newfound jobs (Bianca ed her BAR and was working as an attorney, Jayce took freelance programming gigs from time to time and Thorne was working in a local market part time) and they managed to make things right all together. It took a bunch of time for the wound to stop hurting so much, but having so much definitely made it easier sometimes. It was in this atmosphere that Prim turned 18 and got rid of the 'no-fricking-until-you're-18' rule she had set for herself. Best decision ever.

On the other hand, she seriously began questioning her SO's figure after a bit. She had always believed him to be a bit of a liar, and he seemed to make up a lot of story about his family (like the fact that his mother and stepfather were deities and that his bio dad was a vampire), but one day, shortly before colleges began mailing candidates back, Thorne brought her to Pupstone park to distract her and while they built a snowman, this man showed up and began verbally attacking Thorne for 'living a useless mortal life'.

Thorne would later explain to her that he was his father, aka the bastard that impregnated his mother and ran back to his (always according to him) very stupid wife who had no idea she was being cheated on. It was only then that Prim finally noticed how long his canines were, so she asked him if he needed any blood. He gracefully accepted, giving her the final proof that he wasn't lying about his being a vampire. It was a hard pill to swallow, but a hot one at that... Who knew that having your blood sucked would be so arousing?

On a more normal note, though, Prim got into Distinguished Biology at Foxbury! She was full of assignments to the brim for three long years while practicing her moves and playing the piano every free moment she had. To be fair, sometimes it got so bad that she would have a literal meltdown, but would always get her crud together shortly after.

What she really lacked was sleep, and after a bit just the motivation to follow some classes, for which she just did the bare minimum to . It was the only thing that kept her sane.

Her last year of college turned everybody's lives around.

For one, Bianca got pregnant with Jayce's child. Figuring that Prim and Thorne could now make it on their own and would appreciate the privacy, the two moved into their own place: an unrented house that Grayson offered them for free.

Second, Thorne's mother and stepfather had a child, a little boy they called Xavier -Karma wanted a girl, really, but there was little she could do about it-.

Finally, while at a dinner to meet each other's in-laws, Thorne made the proposal. Primrose was hit by a sudden wave of fear when he did, but she immediately pushed it aside and accepted: after all he was a good partner and while he could be a little childish at times, she didn't mind this side of him and felt that she could've done so much worse than him. Thinking of things from that perspective made her feel like she had no emotions... she really did have feelings for him, but she was also deadly afraid of making that kind of life-changing decision and knew that she would come to f-king regret it sooner or later.

Finally, what was probably the most life-changing moment of her life: she had been missing her period for almost two weeks now and she didn't feel well at all. She bought the pregnancy test just being sure that it would be negative, and it would just turn out to be all the stress from her academic life, but the "stress" turned out to be an averagely three weeks old embryo instead.

She broke the news to Thorne that same day and together they decided to keep the baby.

So, just days before her finals, Primrose gave birth to an healthy baby boy: Orion Berry-Vatore.

Baby Orion grew up to be nothing short of a brat. They loved him to bits but he could be sooo difficult at times. For instance: he was not a picky eater, but would constantly only eat a few things of his choice (which changed in the span of an hour, or even less) and he'd much rather die than eat anything outside of his strict list, which usually always included french fries, chicken nuggets with ketchup, BLTs without L and Ts, PBJs, grilled cheese sandwiches and sweets. Anything sweet would drive him crazy, both figuratively and literally. It didn't help that he was their first child and they were both extremely young parents, so he would get his way very easily.

The day of the wedding wasn't half bad, really. Prim was always a bit nervous, but she still thought of it as a good day for many years. Sure, their first dance's photo was ruined by best/worse flower boy Orion, who decided to ruin the picture while walking right in front of the camera demanding to be handed food, but he was quickly removed by his defeated grandmother, who wondered how in the heavens she ended up with such a bratty grandson. Thank god he quickly saw Uncle Xavier and went to bother him instead.

On a happier note, the family adopted a dog! They called him Riley and he became Orion's best friend.

Prim took a job as a specialist at the local hospital! It wasn't exactly what she wanted, but it was an amazing job and helping all those people in need made her feel well about her choice. She still played the piano from time to time, but she felt like she had little to no room for improvement at this point.

Riley and Orion would greet her with the screeching screams of their people when she returned, all because Thorne was too busy hosting séances to care for them. It made Prim really pissed off, and was the first crack in their relationship, after less than a year of marriage.

When Prim was beginning to feel trapped in a stale, boring marriage and in a job that she was beginning to hate, her life was turned upside down once again. Haru Kitomu had been hospitalized for a week when they first met: he was not her patient, but his doctor was out of town for an emergency and her supervisor had asked her to take care for some of his patients, including Haru.

The young man had suddenly collapsed due to exhaustion and he was being kept in to monitor his health. It had started as a joke, went on with stolen kisses when no one was looking and ended with him sneaking in the back of the hospital for their forbidden love-making sessions in the abandoned psychiatric wing. It was easy to it that he satisfied her more than Thorne did in the two years that they were lovers.

Orion's sixth birthday came around very soon. The cake was great, the guests were chatty and Orion wasn't even being a brat for a change, so Prim was quite happy. Then, seeing someone that was not supposed to be there made her even more happy.

She could barely hold herself for a few moments before jumping at his lips, catching him in a steamy kiss that he made no attempt to stop. Unfortunately for her, she forgot that her husband not only was still around, but he was also away from the commotion and had a great hearing, so he quickly picked up the trail left by their quiet, but very incriminating moans.

What followed was probably the worst fight she ever had in her life.

They took it outside just as Grayson began calling them for the usual generational photo. They tried to hold it together for Orion's sake, but the argument broke out louder than before. The weirdest thing? Orion was laughing in delight as this happened. Grayson thought that he must either be very devastated or very messed up.

In the end, the only thing left to do was get a divorce. They both got custody, Thorne moved back with Karma and Haru moved in with Prim, and everyone, somehow, seemed decently happy. Thorne realized that he missed his freedom, Prim was happy with Haru and Orion got double gifts at any occasion, so that was that.

Orion went from fussy-ish to full-on brat as he grew older, and having busy parents certainly didn't help his case (Haru worked as an engineer, apparently, while Prim was still busy with her job at the hospital)

What's more, his attitude was shared by his best friend and second cousin Gunnar, son of Jayce, who was his best enabler and was often around due to Jayce and Prim being very close.

Prim herself knew that she wasn't the best of parents, but she was so focused on her love life at the time to realize just how much was wrong with his antics.

At the same time, both Poppy and Evan started a family of their own.

Poppy met a woman named Taryn and it didn't take long for them to have a family of their own: Poppy was soon suddenly pregnant, which made Taryn reveal that this was possible because she was a mermaid. Their son, also a merman, was called Noah.

Evan instead landed a sweet job as an archeology professor at UBrite and became famous as one of the most competent archeologists of modern times. He moved in a small house next to his old orphanage, where he suddenly met a girl that changed his life: a little 6 years old orphan named Edith, who became Edith Berry in the span of an year.

Life for Haru and Prim was going smoothly. He proposed to her after two years of living together, she accepted and they got married in a small ceremony that only their closest friends attended.

Shortly after came Primrose's 35th birthday, and with it came the overwhelming urge to change her life. She hated her job, she felt that it was crushing her and she wanted to drop it so bad, but she didn't know what Haru would think of it... After all, what she had in mind wouldn't be exactly a gold mine.

Haru, however, was extremely ive of her decision. Having recently gotten a promotion, he felt that his income would be enough to them financially in case Prim's new job didn't go as she hoped. So Prim left her job as a doctor to try her luck in the showbiz.

In all honesty, Haru did it because he felt guilty. Everyone, including Prim, thought that he was a computer engineer and while he had worked in the field for a while, he wasn't one anymore.

What he did now was... Uh, just a teensy bit more illegal. We're talking about selling informations into the dark web and stuff. He really didn't want to know what they were used for, he'd much rather not know and not have anyone else know.

Anyone except Orion, who one day skipped school and walked in on him coding a Trojan.

The boy was ecstatic! He begged him to let him watch in silence and Haru, just because he was afraid of what he'd say to Prim otherwise, decided to let him. He built him a chatter bot as a safety net and, thank god, Orion never said a word. If he had to take a wild guess, Haru believed that he respected his criminal actions.

Unfortunately, this situation didn't last very long. One day, having troubles with her slow computer, Prim decided to use Haru's high-end one. She not only found it already booted, which was unusual on its own, but also found some sort of program running. She looked up its name in curiosity and found out that her husband was using a dangerous, highly illegal program to anonymously retrieve people's datas. Why would an engineer need such a program? Either the company that Haru worked for would do anything to improve sales, or he didn't work as an engineer.

Prim didn't know much about computers at all, so she had no idea how to find out more about his job, but then he came home and a little pressure was enough to bend him: he confessed that his primary job was to sell datas, and that while he likely knew why they were being requested to him, he never asked - that was the Dark Web's policy, he said.

Prim decided not to turn him in after a much needed reflection, but this whole mess was a huge blow to their relationship's status, and in the end the whole thing came running down on them. Haru tried so hard to fix things, but she wasn't having it and in the end they decided that it would be just better to get a divorce, and get it over with.

Prim didn't feel relieved this time around. She felt sad. She felt lonely.

While his sad, sad mother reversed her feelings in her music and started licensing songs, Orion finally started attending high school.

He developed a sense of self-assurance seemingly out of nowhere. He thought of himself as someome capable to do just about anything easily and it was true most of the times, actually - something he got from his mother- but he didn't even try most of the times.

He ired his step-father's skills and dreamed to be just as criminally powerful as he was one day. He wasn't exactly ready for that yet, but ordering people around was something that he enjoyed greatly and just this one thing told him that he would fit perfectly in the underground.

Primrose's career skyrocketed when one of her songs became an internet phenomenon. She received the news that she had been nominated to the Starlight Accolades that would take place later that month and she was overjoyed.

When she turned up to the ceremony (fashionably late, as a star should always be) she was immediately called up on the stage for the first statuette, then she was called back up for the second (respectively for most copies sold in the least amount of time and for catchiest tunes) and in that very moment, Prim felt that she needed nothing more than this recognition.

Unfortunately, this feeling disappeared when her bubble of self-enjoyment popped just a few days later.

She knew that there was something that she missed.

She missed his voice around the house, his warmth in bed, his hair tickling her skin.

She regretted not giving him a chance, despite how bad he fought to fix their relationship.

Following that realization she began texting him again. At first it was about his new living arrangements and some of the things that he had left behind, then it became small talk and Haru's responses went from short and cold to decently long and a bit happier.

Prim wanted to hope that this meant that he wanted to take her back.

Prim finally got the courage to ask him out again and he accepted in the blink of an eye.

It didn't take long for the spark to ignite again and Prim knew now that she wanted to take all the risks that his job brought.

Orion knew they were back together when he heard the dresser's doors banging l, but he went to check just in case and was scarred for life.

Prim knew they belonged together.

She regretted divorcing him more than anything else in her life. So she felt a whole again when they married for the second time on the beautiful beaches of Sulani. She felt that there was nothing more to be written about her.

She was fine. She would be fine.

It was up to Orion now.
