welcome to volume nine

of the empty hearse. this

weeks theme was “sher

lock theories”. it was a

very vague topic, so there

will be some variation this

time. some people chose

to do pre-existing theories,

some chose to make their

own, and some did work just

surrounding theories in the

episodes of bbc sherlock.

On a foggy Tuesday night, your office phone rings.

Once, twice, three times.

You pick up and hear your partner, Jacob, on the other side of the line.

“Come over to the Ghost Museum. New case. Quickly!” Jacob sounds out of breath.

You sigh, get up, and run downstairs to your car.

“Can you at least fill me in on the details?”

“Half an hour ago, we got a call from Ms. Caren Grace. She was leaving the museum when her girlfriend, Columbine Strong, suddenly fell onto the ground. She sounded like she was being strangled, and Caren told us that she saw a figure squeezing Columbine’s throat as she clawed at its hands. She was dead within a minute.”

You start the car and set the destination point.

“So what’s the catch?” you ask. “I hope you didn’t pull me off duty at midnight for nothing.”

“That’s the strangest part! There are no footsteps, no traces of anyone being there, and there’s no footage!” your partner pauses for a breath. “Please tell me, what the hell is going on?”

“Could it be someone who covered their traces perfectly?” you muse. There is usually some clue that gets left behind, but there are times when the mastermind behind the plot is so skilled that there are no clues.

“Maybe, but the grass which the woman fell onto looks untrampled, except for the marks she left.”

You arrive at the scene of crime. Hanging up, you run over to the body.

Idiots. You think. They stomped all over the grass. Now there’s no real way of telling whether or not there was somebody here.

The fog curls around your feet as you examine the body. She is lying on the ground, hands draped over her neck as if she had been clutching it before death.

Suddenly, you crack the case. What happened?

As John wound down for the night, he couldn’t help but look back on the day he just had. He almost couldn’t believe that it happened to him, but he had his lack of a limp to tell him that it wasn’t just a good dream. It was reality. And the strangest thing was that it started with just a simple conversation.

I’m the morning, John had been wandering the street, wondering just how long he could stay in his flat before his army allowance would run out and he would be without a place to live. Just then, he ran into his old friend Mike Stamford that he hadn’t seen since before the war. They had a nice chat about normal things, until Mike brought him up.

Apparently, there was this man. Mike didn’t tell him who he was, said that it was classified information. But, he had secretly been watching John ever since he returned from the war, and he wanted to offer him a business proposition. With a grin, Mike relayed the information. The job, the requirements, and the salary. Holy hell, the salary. It was more than enough to last a lifetime.

John was at a loss for words. Of course he was happy about the business proposal: he was to be hired as an actor of sorts to keep one man busy and away from drugs. It didn’t seem hard, and the pay was definitely worth it. But why him? John asked Mike Stamford. He didn’t have any acting experience, and he most certainly didn’t know how to keep a person from using drugs. Mike only shrugged and shook his head. This man knows what he’s doing, Stamford had said, I know he chose you for a reason, and a bloody good one at that.

After John accepted (he just couldn’t say no to that pay), he was carted off to Bart’s. That’s where he met Sherlock. The man seemed absolutely brilliant. He knew that John had been at war, and he knew he had an intermittent tremor in his hand and a psychosomatic limp. And that had all been from one glance. John thought his day couldn’t get any better. Hell, had he been wrong about that.

In the span of a day, he had been taken to see a dead body, investigated a thrilling murder, had run across London with Sherlock, and shot a man for that detective with the brilliant brain. Running around with Sherlock for one day taught him that he was insufferable, full of himself, and rude to everyone he laid eyes on. But he was also the smartest man that John had ever hoped to meet, and good God was he beautiful.

As John sat down on his bed, finally ready for sleep after his exciting day, he smiled softly to himself. Tomorrow would be another day filled with excitement, and John was ecstatic they he could spend it with that lanky detective with the sharp cheekbones and the pretty lips. And if John Watson was starting to fancy him a little bit, well, that was his business and his business only.

So, I’m writing about the theory that

Moriarty faked his death as well.

So, I think you’ve all heard this theory before, but I’m rehashing it because it interests me. I’m going to be going over why I think this, evidence to prove it, and all that jazz. Bear with me, it won’t be the best b the world.

Intro

So. We all know that in The Riechenbach Fall, Moriarty forced Sherlock to fake his own death by suicide, and took his own, right? Wrong! There are fans out there, myself included, that believe Jim faked it as well.

You just have to know what to look for. I’ve seen a few on theories on this and I’m going to be pulling information from one of them to create this blog.

Proof

Let’s start with some obvious ones. Jim has a twin. This is one of the bigger ones, because there are some scenes where Jim does things with his right hand or with his left. In the scene where Sherlock and John are at Kitty Riley’s apartment, Jim puts out a hand to defend himself. His left hand. Now, some of you may be thinking, ‘but Jazz. He could just be ambidextrous.’ And this is true. However! Twin Jim seemingly has no idea what the heck Sherlock is talking about. I mean, this could just be Jim himself being a really good actor, but it could not be. It could be his twin, who is a harmless citizen, just trying to live his life.

And there’s something out there about Jim shaking Sherlock’s hand with his right hand or something, I think it was the wrong hand, I don’t correctly.

My Thoughts

My thoughts on the matter are a little conflicted, because I don’t really know what to think about it. I think I’d need to look deeper into the fan theories to find some more proof. But I do believe that Jim faked his own death. How? He had his twin commit the suicide while he got away scot free. But like I said, I’d need to look into the theories more to fully believe this. I wish I could’ve put more theories in here, but this was the only one I could and I didn’t want to do research because I’m lazy.
