Science revival event

Hello all, welcome to the newest event, the science revival event; which I hope you all will enjoy and participate in, as unlike other events this one will last for the whole 40 days, so it gives all plenty of time to make a post, and to win some props are a title to boot!

What’s the event about?

In celebration of Easter, and in the spirit of Ostara the easter pagan tradition, I bring to you “science revival event” in this event we will be celebrating the motif of Oastara rebirth/revival.

The history of science has been a finicky one, there has been many moments in the history of science that have shaped its development and propagation, such as Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection challenging current theories of how species came to be, in a single unifying theory. It explained how species adapted and evolved due to selection pressures that environment caused to a species; later inspiring more research and the development of a field of genetics, and understanding the cause of genetic variation.

Another important moment, was the development of the first ever vaccine, by Edward Jenner for smallpox’s; he noticed a parallel between those who had contracted cowpox and their decreased likelihood of developing smallpox’s; using this knowledge he developed a technique he called vaccination, whereby a segment of infected tissue/puss of a cow who had cowpox’s was brushed against a open wound of the subject your vaccinating, with hope the subject would become immune to smallpox, however it should be stated such a rudimentary method didn’t guarantee safety from the illness, but was vastly better than previous methods used.

There has been a plethora of examples of where science has experienced a revival, where current research was challenged, and it caused a progression in the field, but also times when science was oppressed, and seen as blasphemous. So now, the challenge to our , to push deep into the history of science from any time, and pinpoint and explain these events.
