A throw of the door,
I am greeted by you,
back turned,
stargazing,
cool night breeze whisking,
clear skies,
hardly lit at all.
You make your charming jokes,
trying to break tension,
trying to reconnect.
I see glimpses of you everywhere,
we’ve stood here once before,
i’ve seen you standing in that spot since.
The specific bench we liked to sit at,
the spot you stood and sang.
On the roof,
where we learned of our parallels.
I see you, everywhere.
Here again you truly stand,
What am I to make of this?
How am I to take this?
Can I trust you want to be here,
and aren’t just making amends,
because you feel guilty?
Can I stand myself if I do not accept you?
What will I do if you fall away a second time?
It very well may be my undoing,
but avoiding you may be worse.
Continuing a fate in which we don’t interact,
may lead me to unravel entirely.
Something about you,
something I cannot forget,
something I won’t forgo,
not when you stand here before me,
attempting to make amends,
