The Burden of the Sky

He lay down on the bed, exhausted,

The weight of the world pressing down on him,

His shoulders aching from the burden,

The sky an endless weight upon his spine.

As he closed his eyes, he felt it slip away,

The weight of the world falling into the earth,

The imprint left behind in the mattress,

A testament to the burden he had borne.

But now, as he lay there, free from the weight,

He realized that he had been Atlas all along,

Carrying the weight of the sky on his shoulders,

But now, finally, he could let it go.

And so he breathed in deeply, and let it out,

Releasing the burden of the sky,

Feeling lighter, freer, more alive,

As he found peace in the release.

For though the world may still be heavy,

And the sky may still press down,

He knew that he could find release,

In the moments of letting go, of finding peace.
