What are the telltales of desires emerging into greed?

There's only a thin line in-between

Where silly mortals traipse reckless

nonchalant to the brunt of consequences

lying mordant in their wake.

Desire mayhaps be wishes,

breathed beneath the fallen stars.

Greed is far more orphic,

an endless abyss of hollow dark.

Coveting the sun and earning it at last

To burn the earth and drown your scabrous heart
