Is Young Love Real?

we’re young

I mean we’re only 15

oblivious to how this world works

blind to everything,

at least that’s what we’re told

are we ‘too young’ to understand love?

after all

that’s what they say

“you won’t understand what real love is like

until you grow older”

if that is true

then may you explain what this feeling is

the feeling I get when she’s around?

my heart flys right out of my chest

and I become very aware of all my soon actions

all I can think about is holding her

telling her those forbidden words of:

“I love you”

but maybe they’re right

maybe we don’t quite understand love

maybe your first love isn’t meant to last

but I don’t believe it shouldn’t be at all there

my first love may not stay for what we call

“forever”

but in those moments

when her and I are together,

i want nothing more than us

so even if we are only silly teenagers

we are in love

no doubt about it
