Bisexual Bet

Today I shall tell you the story

Of the day I finally stumbled out of the closet

But there's no need to worry

Because this story has a happy end

I can't the exact date

But I know it was winter

I think it may have been November or December?

And it was in the evening fairly late

We were gathered around the dining table

So me, my parents, my brother and that one fat guy

(He was a friend of my parents, pretty nice guy actually)

While my oldest brother was gaming in his room as always

Dinner had ended several hours ago

It was already past midnight

They were talking and I was on my phone

So it was a pretty normal night

I didn't care enough to

How we got to the topic of sexuality

But on that fateful night in November/December

I told them of my bisexuality

I hadn't planned it at all

The words just fell from my lips

Like so much stupidity had before

And there it just was

There was no dramatic silence

No surprised gasps I could write about

No changed ideas or perspective

It was all normal like they were just other words

The reactions I got were fairly simple

My mother had a mischievous glint in her eyes

Since she'd just discovered that horizons were broadend

For people she could possibly ship me with

My dad was mildly terrified of my mother in that moment

He turned out to be entirely right to be scared

My parents' friend decided to stay out of the conversation

Since it probably wasn't any of his business

And then there was my brother

Who had stood up to intimidatingly stand above me

And absolutely laugh his ass off, with these words:

"Bisexual? Yeah sure, I bet you fifty bucks that in five years you'll have accepted that you're just entirely gay!"

And that's the tale of how we made a bet

About whether I'd still be into boys 5 years later
