TA Tales | The Beginning

Part O1: The Beginning

I wandered through the dark purple halls of this unknown world, ing by corridors labelled 'Anime', 'Books', 'Gaming', and more. The tag labelled 'Kpop' caught my eye, and I made a right turn into the long, endless corridor of giant doors with various groups and fandom names on them. 'Army'? No, thank you. 'NCT'? Eh... I haven't memorised all their names yet, so no. 'Seventeen'? I'll come back for you in a second.

Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Alyssa, just another soul trying to find her place in the world.

Anyways, my footsteps eventually led me to a huge pink and orange door. 'ONCE' was scribbled out in bold, and I knew I had arrived at my destination. I pushed the giant door and quickly slipped in, unsure of what to expect on the other side.

A bright light blinded me as I stepped into Once Amino. As my eyes got used to the shining city in front of me, my other senses kicked in, and I picked up the smell of candy in the air. Maybe that's what people eat around here. There was a sound of distant chatter, and I spotted a few people entering the building straight ahead. There weren't any guards waiting at the entrance, only a map board to guide new , so I decided to take the time to explore.

The Featured Feed looked like an exhibition hall, and there were a ton of interesting blogs to see and read. I had never made a blog before, but I was sure I'd come up with something to post at some point. Nearby, there was a building with the community guidelines displayed in front of it. I think the leaders and curators work inside that building. They kept everything here in order, and they always wore a shiny green tag so that people knew who they were. I was a little scared of them — just a little bit.

I also stopped by the Leaderboards, which was filled with statistics as the minutes ed. There was Most Active, Check-In, Quizzes, and the Hall of Fame, and the people there looked really cool. I wanted to be there one day.

The Public Chats square was packed full of people. Like, PACKED. Each chatroom had an allocated space where people could sit and talk. I managed to squeeze myself into a few of them, but I didn't say anything because I didn't know anyone yet. Some people could talk for hours and hours. I think they had too much candy. Thankfully, each room had a maximum capacity of 100 people. I can't imagine having any more people in one of these rooms.

On the way out of the Public Chats, I heard about an event that would happen soon. A Harry Potter-themed event. I had never watched Harry Potter, but I wanted to and make friends.

The Wiki centre and the Shared Folder were in the library-like building, but I was a little too tired to check them out yet. Instead, I found my profile and started setting it up. Everyone had a profile. It wasn't big — only around the size of a standard hotel room — but we got to decorate it however we want. We could change our name, pick our profile picture, add some information about ourselves, and work on our blogs. I could go to other ' profiles too and meet them there. If the mods needed to investigate us for anything, they usually came to our profiles to search.

So far, Once Amino seemed like a nice place. It wasn't too complicated, and some functions were limited, but I liked it. I wanted to make some good friends and talk to them about common interests that people in our real lives didn't share. I wanted to make blogs like the cool kids. I wanted to be happy here.

But for now, I wanted to sleep. The beds here looked real comfy.

The sound of my alarm rings through my ears, dragging me out of my sleep. 10:58AM... Two minutes... I have two minutes... TWO MINUTES TO GET TO WORK. Suddenly fully awake, I put my Leader badge on and run out of my profile. My Welcoming Committee shift starts at 11AM, and I have to get to the Welcoming Committee office to sign in.

Oh, did I forget to introduce myself? Hi, I'm Alyssa, a leader on Twice Amino. I also work with the Welcoming Committee (my self-proclaimed adopted child), and the Event Team.

As you can see, I'm a proud citizen of the Once community, and this is the story of my time in TA.
