Post Season Storylines

Kenseth Wins 2nd Championship

Matt Kenseth wins his 2nd Cup Series Championship 13 years after his first. Kenseth scored 5 wins on route to his first title with JGR and Toyota’s first title as a manufacture.

Hornish Steals Xfinity Title

The quiet yet consistent Sam Hornish Jr steals the Xfinity Series crown away from JGR teammates Daniel Suárez and Erik Jones who dominated the season. Hornish only won 3 races but was the most consistent driver all season.

Tyler Reddick Dominates Truck Series

Tyler Reddick went on a tear in the Truck Series picking up his and BK Racing’s first truck title.

Smoke Goes Out With 3 Wins

Tony Stewart wins 3 races in his final season. That puts him at 51 career wins as he rides off into the sunset.

Larson, Elliott, and Bowman All Get First Wins

Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and Alex Bowman all notched their first career victories over the season. Bowman won Talladega, Elliott won Bristol and Chicagoland, while Larson won Auto Club, Bristol, and Michigan. All 3 drivers qualified for the chase for the first time in their careers too.

Richard Petty Motorsports Has Great Season

RPM improved above expectations this season. Their drivers both won their respective duels and Almirola made the playoffs. While Cassill missed the playoffs he finished 17th in points, right outside the cutoff.

Hamlin, Kahne Struggle

Denny Hamlin and Kasey Kahne both had tough seasons. Hamlin and Kahne both failed to win a race and Kahne missed the chase. With both drivers coming to the end of their contracts after 2017, their futures may be in jeopardy.

This is very interesting universe in 2016. I like the idea of you incorporating drivers who were facing uncertain futures and drivers who eventually got their shot a few years later into the storyline. The surprise performances of guys who didn't have much going for them in real life was pretty cool touch and I really enjoyed reading this blog!

I can't wait for the next installment and see how 2017 will go!
