The Greatest Spectacle in Racing has hosted dozens of incredible races over the years, and today I have highlighted 6 classic races that I think you should all revisit leading up to Sunday's running of the 109th Indianapolis 500.
.
#1 - 2011 Indianapolis 500
One of the most iconic finishes in the history of the Indy 500 sees JR Hildebrand suffer ultimate heartbreak but also triumph for one of the sports legends, Dan Wheldon. A fantastic race with tons of prior action.

#2 - 2014 Indianapolis 500
Another fantastic finish sees Ryan Hunter-Reay etch his name into the history books as he holds off Helio Castroneves to claim the biggest win of his career up to that point.

#3 - 2015 Indianapolis 500
After an absence from Indycar to pursue endeavors in Formula One and NASCAR, Juan Pablo Montoya delivers one of the greatest drives in the history of the Indy 500 and pulls off an incredible late charge on Scott Dixon and Will Power to take home his 2nd 500 victory.

#4 - 2016 Indianapolis 500
Alexander puts together an incredible drive for the ages as he claims his first Indy 500 in his first attempt, a feat no driver has done since then. Rossi shocked the motorsports world on this day.

#5 - 2017 Indianapolis 500
Takuma Sato completes his underdog tale and rise as a prominent Indycar talent by being the first Japanese driver to win the Indy 500 in 2017. Another classic of a race and a classic story.

#6 - 2021 Indianapolis 500
Widely considered to be the best running of this race of all time, Helio Castroneves claims a historic 4th victory at The Brickyard after holding off eventual series champion and rising superstar Alex Palou in traffic in the closing laps. A sight to see.
