It sounds like Erik Jones has finalized a deal with Richard Petty Motorsports to move to the team in 2021. Jones is a 2 time cup series winner. He won the July Daytona race in 2018 and the Southern 500 in 2019. He also won the 2020 Busch Clash.
Since ing the NASCAR Cup Series, Jones has raced for 2 team under 3 different numbers. He has driven the 18, 20, and 77 across Joe Gibbs Racing and Furniture Row Racing.
These season Jones has 9 top 5s and 13 top 10s but missed the playoffs for the first time in the 20 full time.
Jones has never finished higher than 15th (2018) in points but he has let his talents show in Xfinity and Truck. He won 9 Xfinity Races and 7 Truck Races. He is also the 2015 Truck Series Champion.
He will replace Bubba Wallace who is going to the new, Michael Jordan-Denny Hamlin team. Bubba had 3 top 5s and 9 top 10s in 109 races in the 43. This season he is having a career year with 1 top 5 and 5 top 10s. While RPM hasn’t won a race since 2014 with Aric Almirola they have shown they have a great SuperSpeedway program. This is very beneficial to Jones as he is excellent on the SuperSpeedways.
