Signal Smoke Flare

Not a very powerful emitting quirk, but quite useful in of rescue missions or anything relating to long-distance location. The has the ability to release a colored smoke into the air, and it’s either controlled or uncontrolled. For a regular , they will need to build up strong emotions to emit a rising flare that shoots up to the sky, trailing behind the colored smoke, but it can activate unexpectedly if the emotion comes as a surprise (shock, anger, etc.). If the emotion is stagnant or mild, like boredom or happiness, then either nothing happens or she’ll steam like the “High-Pressure Emotion” Trope. The activation comes from the head, as pressure from inside ‘pops’ bodily fluids through the skin (mainly around the head or ears) and shoot up like a flare. A ’s flare can only be one color, and it depends on genetics to determine that color.

Strengths

•The strongest emotions a can evoke are embarrassment, anger, and sorrow. For Jessamy, embarrassment is the quickest and easiest emotion to use due to the girl’s sensitivity in minor life mistakes. Simply make her cringe with any awkward flashbacks, and you’re set.

•The Quirk works best in open spaces where it’s most visible for aerial spotters. It works in other places too, but open areas (around a quarter to half a mile in diameter) are the ones to get the most attention.

•The Flare shoots up to 60-75 feet tall, it’s the highest for aerial spotters, but can shoot higher depending on the degree of the ’s emotions. It also lasts for up to 25 minutes, 5-7 minutes at least.

Weaknesses

• The cannot move on their own while a signal flare is in session. They can be carried around by other people or vehicles, but the is at a standstill to allow the smoke to disperse without disturbing the body. This means, the Quirk is not combat-based, and it’s quite useless.

• The is vulnerable to inhale any of the smoke produced through the head, it can distract the from producing more smoke, as the scent is equivalent to sweat. It can also block their vision and muffle any sounds from their ears, which can occasionally cause headaches or migraines.

• Because Quirk uses bodily fluids, the can become dehydrated and develop side effects to dehydration (exhaustion, dizziness, etc.). It comes at a quicker pace the longer the Quirk is activated.

Personality

Jessamy is absolutely cheerful and extroverted by having been surrounded by many excitements and joys through her life. But she doesn’t spend her free time in parties, rather she spends her time with some hard work in the wilderness. One can tell how Jessamy would feel through her body movements; the stature, the walk, the talk, the attitude will immediately give it away. Because she lives in two different ‘worlds’, Jessamy is usually very skilled in front of her family, but very awkward and clumsy in front of her friends, and although she generally laughs off her comical or minor errors, she fails to hide her embarrassment once her Quirk activates. She can also be sincere and ive of others in life obstacles, yet can doubt herself when it comes to her own.

Five Facts

•Her parents couldn’t decide to name her either Jessie or Amy, so they ended combining both names. But she will accept either of those two as nicknames.

• She has a particular liking for honey, and keeps her own bee yard/apiary a quarter of a mile east from home.

• The ukulele first came around as a welcome gift from a college friend, and Jessamy has been in love with it ever since.

• Although she never keeps one at home (for safety reasons), she would usually visit a friend’s house to stare at their lava lamp collection.

• The dice ponytail came from a guy friend who had a huge crush on her, the two first met and became frequent rivals in Yahtzee, and he gifted her the ponytail during her birthday. Jessamy still has yet to return the feelings, but has promised to wear the dice every day.

Backstory

Born as a middle child with survivalist parents and three siblings, Jessamy grew up living in a cozy cabin for most of her life, having loved the sense of nature while learning the ins and outs of survival. Her Quirk actually came from her paternal grandfather, and was first activated after being lost in the woods, crying about losing her com in a streaming river. Jessamy grew up with a lack of awareness of the city life, and was mostly homeschooled until she was 18. So by the time she came around to town, she was certainly like a country bumpkin, initially losing that extroverted side to an alien world of a city. Jessamy wasn’t sure how to feel about the new sense of culture, but made sure to keep her natural roots while blending in with friends at a community college (she’s hoping to pursue in Veterinary and/or Environmental Science). The group ed a Survivalist Club, where Jessamy shot up the ranks in becoming Vice President by her third year, she has been very proud of the club ever since. Because of her works in the club and her Quirk, she is usually in-touch and associated with many national parks and rescue teams to tag along in certain expeditions that could get them easily lost. As of now, she lives alone in a tiny apartment by the woods with three dogs (A Labrador Retriever, a Belgian Mallinois, and a Black-and-Tan Coonhound).
