October 2020 Favorites & Flops

In this post I will be discussing my favorite songs and albums this month. They will not necessarily be from 2020; they are just songs and albums I listened to the most during this month.

After the favorites I’ll tell you about the flops. These will be the songs that came out this month but weren’t really my cup of tea.

Bet You Wanna

Blackpink & Cardi B

I surprised myself by actually really liking this song! It’s no masterpiece, but it’s catchy and fun. The vocals are pretty good, and of course the raps were incredible (including Cardi’s, which surprised me as someone who usually doesn’t like her flow). It was the only song from The Album that I listened to a lot. I also liked You Never Know, but it’s wasn’t an everyday listen like Bet You Wanna.

Alien

Lee Suhyun

As the title might suggest, this song is a little weird, but Suhyun pulls it off flawlessly. She has the voice of an angel, and Alien shines a spotlight on it, lacking any bells and whistles that would be distracting. It might not be for everyone, but I certainly am a fan.

Pump It Up

Golden Child

I feel like no one talked about this comeback, but it’s so much fun! The chorus is so catchy, the vocals are full and rich (what else did we expect from the GolCha vocalists?), and overall the song is just really cute. It never fails to put a smile on my face.

Pentagon

A masterpiece? Yes. Absolutely. You should probably go listen to it right now.

I Can’t Stop Me

Twice

This song is always in my head. Even while doing a more mature concept, Twice’s maintains their contagious energy.

Jungle

CIX

The timing of this release was perfect. Everything about Jungle is elegantly chilling. Given my usual taste in music, I shouldn’t like this song as much as I do, but it was a pleasant surprise.

New Rules

Weki Meki

Another solid mini album from Weki Meki! The lead single Cool took about a week to grow on me, but now I really like it. Sweet Dreams has a lovely, somewhat haunting sound, and I’m a big fan. D-Day adds a slightly flirty acoustic flavor to the album. The ballad Just Us finishes off the track list by showing off the group’s vocals. A very solid comeback across the board.

Minisode1: Blue Hour

TXT

Is it exaggerating to say that this comeback changed my life? Or at the very least my year. It’s everything I needed at this moment in time. This album will remain special in my heart for a very long time.

I wasn’t really feeling Dawn & Jessi’s collab or the new WJSN unit, but I didn’t hate anything this month.
