Rock Cookies

Mae govannen, folks!

This is my entry for the #EreborCooking challenge. I decided to make rock cookies, which have nothing to do with music, and no, nobody will lose any teeth eating them (not a guarantee though). They're simply cookies that look like rocks, or at least they should.

The reason why I chose them is the connection between rocks and dwarfs. They live underground, mine, work with rocks, they even consist of them.

Another reason is that the recipe is quite simple. You need:

500g flour

2 eggs

180g brown sugar

180g butter

Half a cup of milk (approx. 100 ml)

Any other ingredients that you like (explanation follows).

First, the flour and the butter are mixed together. Then the brown sugar, the eggs and the milk are added. You can also add any flavour you like; I went for a teaspoon of vanilla extract. The consistency of the dough should be rather firm, not liquid. Hence I would recommend kneading it with your hands. Get those handses dirty - but only after washing them.

After I had a nice, big ball of dough, I split it into three parts.

Here you can add ingredients as you please.

To the first one I added a tablespoon of cocoa powder and chocolate chips, the second one got chopped almonds and blue food dye and the third one rainbow sprinkles.

Now the oven needs to be preheated to 220°c/428°f.

(I hope I did the fahrenheit correct)

Meanwhile, form little chunks out of the dough. I tried to make them look like rocks. Try to make them all one size, so that they are all done baking at the same time. You can either put parchment paper on the baking tray or rub it with butter, so that the cookies don't stick to it.

Now you bake them for 15 minutes, and voila!

I thought the chocolate ones might represent some type of mud rock or clay, the ones with the sprinkles have gems embedded in them and with the blue ones I tried to get something that looks like the arkenstone. Somehow. In some way.

And I guess the dwarfs approve!

With that, I've come to the end of this post. I hope you'll have a nice day/night!
