Lament for the Lord of Dor-Lómin || lovers' 2022

I would like to share with you my part of here.

The couple we chose are Hùrin Thalion and Morwen Eledhwen. When Hùrin did not come back after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, Morwen spent years and years waiting for him to return. Eventually she made a song, cherishing the memories of her husband, and refusing to believe that he fell. But I shall let you read by yourselves now.

Across the meadows smooth and wide

Over hills and mountains tall

Alongside streams through valleys nigh

As swift as a gentle breeze he rode

His hair shone golden in the light

Of sun as though it dropped it's glow

His sword was long and silver-white

Loved by his folk, feared by his foes

His spirit kind and warm his heart

Fierce at war but mild at home

And in his eyes the light of stars

Revealed the fire of his soul

On a morning cold and pale

On Arroch sat he high and keen

And hopeful voices filled the air

,Night shall fade and light shall gleam!'

A fond farewell he bade me then

A kiss, a promise of return

With all the hope of elves and men

He rode away, glory to earn

Since then the world grew grim and grey

And every night I find no sleep

Unknown to me remains his fate

For steps of his I wait and heed

Unnumbered tears tore him away

Ah! My heart broke into shards!

Is he alive or was he slain?

No word came from the northern lands

The harp that once in pain he broke

Is now revived by song of grief

Filled with sorrow and dying hope

And more tears than I could ever weep

But neither fate nor evil curse

Can make the words of his unsaid

I sense he's near and will return

For no more power have words in death

The days of light might have ed

But through the darkness I'll hold on

And long for his face to be the last

Thing which I cast my gaze upon
