The Hourglass

Sands of time flow so freely

Start to end they fall in place

Piece by piece till all is gone

ing through too quickly

A time glints with laughter

A summers day as children

Water to cool the suns heat

Warm even in the shadows

Running at night, grinning

Restless, and feeling free

Night meeting with friends

Now just a fond memory

We grow older and older

While time never stops

The hourglass flows on

Taking people to the end

Lovers left alone at night

Lying side by side in bed

Holding eachother close

Hushed sleepy 'I love you'

Murmurs between friends

Many simple secrets told

Swearing some to silence

Sealed lips and full trust

Hourglass almost empty

Helping along earth time

The future holding hope

Time taking some young

A restless soul stuck fast

Aching to escape the end

The fallen now weeping

Time moves on uncaring
