Taanshi Kiiya? Boon matayn!
Hello, how are you? Good morning!
I’ve been a writer for many years now. For as long as I’ve known how to type using a keyboard, I’ve written stories.
When I was 14, I began writing a piece that was more or less a vent piece about my own fears of being a trans man and the experiences that came with it, and it took off from there. After using the base of it to compete in National Novel Writing Month in 2016, I won 5 days early and completed the first book of what I would like to become a series of three.
I’m now in the editing phase, and have three chapters completed. If I were to post it here, would anyone be interested in reading it? The caveat unfortunately is it’s very trauma laden and focuses heavily on mental health, domestic violence, and transphobia; as I said it began as a vent piece when I was 14 and took off as I worked on it more and got older. For perspective, I’m going to be 23 this year. It’s been a long time in the works, lol.
For other pieces that don’t focus so heavily on trauma, I have another short story I’m working on about a Two-Spirit Ojibwe-Metis grass dancer and his reunion with his childhood love who’s now a world-champion rodeo star. I also have a fantasy piece that I’ve written and scrapped and rewritten at least a dozen times over the years about a corrupt Queen unifying the surrounding fiefs of her kingdom through the oppression of magical beings to fight against the monsters plaguing the realm.
It’s just a thought, I’d just really like to see what people think of my writing. I haven’t let anybody read my pieces since I was in highschool so I figured it’s about time I do so again. I won’t improve otherwise.
