Hello there kind humans! T'is I, Luca, back again with another post. Today I'm bringing you my entry to this week's mindfulness challenge.
When I saw this challenge on the featured page, I knew immediately I had to take part. I've been talking myself into trying to meditate for months now, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity!
Just a small disclaimer that I've never meditated before, so I'm still really new to this. I used this website to guide me through it. I can't wait to read everyone's entries and learn more about meditation!

The first day I meditated was on Monday, September 6th, the day the challenge was posted! Since it was my first time trying meditation, I decided it'd be better to do it for 5 minutes only, and as the days went on, I'd try to do it for longer.

1. How did meditating go for you today? (Was it easy, difficult? Was it fun?)
Meditating today was a bit challenging, I'm not used to just sitting down and relaxing for long periods of time, so it was pretty hard to focus during the first few minutes. However, once I was able to focus, it was pretty fun!
2. Was meditating today helpful?
I believe it was, especially since it was my first time doing so. I think it helped me find that balance point between being relaxed and being focused on my breathing and body.
3. Has meditating made you feel more relaxed?
At first no, because I was stressed that I couldn't do it right, but then when I got the hang of it, it was really good! I wouldn't say I felt more relaxed, but I was definitely more motivated to try it again!
4. If meditating hasn’t helped, do you have any suggestions on what would help today?
One thing that helps me relax is wearing my earphones and listening to music really really loud, so that's what I did to help me today.

On the second day, I decided to try to meditate for 5 minutes only again, as I'd struggled to focus the day before.

1. How did meditating go for you today? (Was it easy, difficult? Was it fun?)
It was a lot better than yesterday. I still struggled during the first minute or so, but it was easier to actually focus during those 5 minutes.
2. Was meditating today helpful?
Today wasn't a very stressful day, so I wouldn't say meditating was helpful, per se, but it was really nice!
3. Has meditating made you feel more relaxed?
Most definitely. I felt a lot lighter afterwards.
4. If meditating hasn’t helped, do you have any suggestions on what would help today?
I think today was pretty good and rewarding, but something else that also helps me relax is hugging my kitties!

On the third day I tried meditating for 7 minutes, and I made it a goal to get to 10 minutes by the end of the week!

1. How did meditating go for you today? (Was it easy, difficult? Was it fun?)
I'm not gonna lie, meditating today was really challenging. I had a pretty stressful day, and as soon as I sat down to meditate, I couldn't get my day out of my head.
2. Was meditating today helpful?
Not necessarily, I ended up overthinking everything that had happened earlier and it stressed me out more.
3. Has meditating made you feel more relaxed?
Not today, unfortunately. It brought my mood down a bit.
4. If meditating hasn’t helped, do you have any suggestions on what would help today?
Having a really hot shower and having my comfort food really helped me today.

Because of what happened on the last day, I decided to try to only meditate for 7 minutes again. I was a bit hesitant to meditate again, because I didn't want to get overwhelmed.

1. How did meditating go for you today? (Was it easy, difficult? Was it fun?)
It was a bit better today. I wasn't completely in my zone, because I was very aware of my thoughts, but it was a lot easier and a lot more productive than yesterday.
2. Was meditating today helpful?
I wouldn't say it was helpful, as I was very nervous, but it wasn't harmful either. It was nice to be able to sit down for a bit though.
3. Has meditating made you feel more relaxed?
A little bit, however I'm uncertain if it was meditation itself, or just the fact that I was able to sit down and not do anything too demanding for a bit.
4. If meditating hasn’t helped, do you have any suggestions on what would help today?
On this day I decided to chill with my kitties again and read, and it helped a lot!

As this was my last day for this challenge, I decided to finally try to meditate for 10 minutes!

Meditating today was actually pretty fun, my house was really quiet so I was able to actually completely focus!
2. Was meditating today helpful?
Kind of, today wasn't very stressful, but being able to sit down and just let my mind wander for those minutes was really nice.
3. Has meditating made you feel more relaxed?
I don't think it made me more relaxed, but it felt very freeing and pleasant. It definitely made it easier for me to relax afterwards.
4. If meditating hasn’t helped, do you have any suggestions on what would help today?
As per usual, my kitties are my go to. :)

I'm honestly not sure. It was a very interesting experience to be able to do it for a week, but I had to force myself to do it everyday. I might meditate again from time to time, but I don't think it'll become a part of my daily routine.
However, I've definitely gained a new perspective on meditation, and I can understand why it's helpful for so many people! I feel like it just didn't work as well for me, and that's okay, because I have other ways to relax and spend time with myself.

We've now reached the end of my entry to this week's challenge! Thank you so much for reading through my first impressions with meditation, it was a really fun journey.
