LGBTQ+ Characters in video games No.1

Hello and welcome to the first edition to my “LGBTQ characters in video games” series, in this post I will be talking about the character Bloodhound in the game Apex Legends. A mild TW for those who are uncomfortable with the sight knifes and guns, these weapons will be present in the post (with no blood). With that being said let’s get into the meat and potatoes of this post shall we?

Apex Legends is a first person battle royal shooter game with a variety of characters with unique abilities. Players get put in a 3 person squad so teamwork is the best plan. Each character has their own individual back story that makes playing the game more fun. There are also different game modes such as “control” which was added in the latest season (12). Apex Legends has a variety of LGBTQ characters and they treat it like it’s no big deal (as they should). Having said all that, let’s unpack Bloodhounds character!

So what does bloodhound bring to the table in game with their squad? They are known for their phenomenal tracking abilities that help locate enemy teams and traps. But what specifically are bloodhounds abilities?

“Bloodhound is known across the Outlands as one of the greatest game hunters the Frontier has ever seen. The child of two engineers stationed at the New Dawn industrial plant on Talos, Bloodhound was taken in by their uncle Artur after a meltdown destroyed the facility and killed both their parents. Artur taught them the Old Ways, a belief system that focuses on the glory of nature and rejects modern technology. Yet Bloodhound was constantly drawn to technological marvels, and ultimately used both new and old methods to take down a Goliath that preyed on the people of their village, forever changing their life’s path.”

As you may have noticed in bloodhounds bio, they are non binary and use they/them pronouns. Though this has always been canon in the lore fans of the game still debated over whether bloodhound was really non binary.
