I have kept myself afloat For so many years,by now...
Ages have ed keeping
My head above water,
My hair above the muck...
I steer the gigantic ship
To every direction it must go,
I look through the lenses so often
Yet I can't find home...
The lighthouse would lead me right,
The beacon would take me home,
I often practice swimming,
And learn to row a boat...
There's this urge to jump ship,
The wait has been too long,
The ship's com has failed
The path I am on must be wrong...
I would take my final leap
At the sight of the next boat,
At the sight of the next light
I would row the tiny boat
Till the end of the sea,
Till the end of time.
I could swim a thousand seas
I couldn't just stay afloat,
I couldn't sail the ship to shore
So I waited for the tiny boat.
On some faraway island,
I am trained to make a home
I am trained to be a lonely sailor,
I am trained for the creaky boat,
I am trained for dragons in the sea But not for the comfort of the ship,
I've been prepared for loneliness But never for love
I've been prepared for shipwrecks But never for hope.
