Hello.

It’s me, and I’m having a go at this challenge. So, by now you might already know according to the content log that my favorite animal is indeed a Panda.

In the past, I had a huge thing for Owls, but I also enjoyed pandas a lot, and for a while they’ve represented me in many ways. I don’t necessarily how long my Owl phase lasted, but eventually from ages 11-13 Panda’s gradually became my favorite (Owls holding a close second).

There are a lot of interesting things about Panda’s I’ll be informing, so stay tuned for my small blog about my favorite animal.

Now before anyone gets concerned, this public display of affection towards Panda’s is STRICTLY AS FRIENDS >:( Now that that’s been cleared up, its time to explain why Panda’s are my favorite animal.

The head mascot of my artwork is a Panda! Their name is...Panda...I haven’t given them a gender yet, but I really don’t think I will since it’s unnecessary. They’re Panda. They're based on a pencil bag I got for Christmas.

A Panda’s appearance is the first bland, but honest explanation. They’re kind of like the black sheep of bears, like, when you look at a panda you don’t really relate it to Polar Bears or Grizzly Bears or Black Bears etc. It’s kind of it’s own person (bear), and I think we can relate on that. No I’m not saying I’m nOt LiKe ThE oThEr____, but I really do appreciate how unique a Panda is.

Secondly, I really do appreciate how playful they can be. It’s really cute, and I haven’t taken enough of my time watching them roll around and enjoy life. It’s always been really comforting watching someone or something be so carefree. Sadly, nothing goes through life completely carefree, but we’re not leaving this on a sad note. Panda’s are really freaking adorable favorite animal or not.

Sadly if I have, it was relatively far in the past and I can’t recall seeing a Panda, but I’ve been to a few zoo’s back in the prime of childhood, and I could have potentially seen one then. I have held a lion and alligator and I rode a camel too...briefly though...

The reason I haven’t really seen a Panda since then is because most of the times the idea comes up it gets cancelled or we forget about it (I’m referring to going to the zoo). Also, I doubt I’ll be seeing one anytime soon. One day though, it’d be nice to make a tiny memory of that.

If you personally want to see a Panda then I’d suggest you see if they hold any at a nearby zoo, but Panda’s original Habitat resides in Southwestern China. Their kind of huge animal in Asia, and I really love that. You see them in the media a lot on Chinese or/and Japanese animation (from my personal experience). I think Korean too, but yeah, they’re pretty up there. A big dog (bear).

1. Pandas have to have bamboo. Actually, bamboo for Pandas isn’t only a treat, but a necessity. Without bamboo as a main source of nutrition, they’d starve to death.

2. You may have known this, but sadly Pandas are an extremely endangered species roughly with an estimated 1,864 population. Approximately 400 Pandas are being held in captivity in zoos. The USA only holds Pandas in San Diego, Memphis, Atlanta and Washington DC. Internationally, Pandas are held in Canada, Mexico, , Spain, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Australia and the UK.

3. Pandas are mostly vegetarian, but not. Pandas are omnivore creatures, but about 99% of their diet is vegitation. The other 1% is the occasional eggs or small animal.

4. Pandas are Introverts. They prefer to kick it alone, and even when they smell their own species they’ll avoid getting in with them. Sounds like me. The only time they go out in the open is during mating season which lasts through Spring (March-May).

5. Pandas are born completely white. They gradually gain their black spots and details as they mature. That means that my dumb ass probably would think one of these Panda babies was a Polar Bear if I wasn’t paying attention...or maybe not. Maybe I’m smart. Not really though.

There are definitely mounds of information about pandas I know I didn’t cover in this post, but wouldn’t that be sad if there was a definite amount of information about your favorite animal? There are many websites and many sources where you can find out a lot more information about Pandas in. I know the more I know the more I’ll be inclined to search myself.

All in all I really enjoyed making this post regardless of the challenge and even learned a few things thanks to it. Actually, I don’t think I put time into researching Pandas until now. I didn’t go deep into the depths of research, but now I’m definitely motivated to more than before. I can’t wait to see what your favorite animal is! Good luck. :)
