Demigender is a gender identity characterized by a partial connection to a gender.

It is also an umbrella term for other identities like demiboy, demigirl and, lesser known and used, demifluid, demiandrogyne etc.

You can basically put the prefix "demi-" in front of any gender you partially identify with.

⚩ Demigender people often identify as non-binary.

⚩ The flag above is sometimes also used for deminonbinary/demienby.

⚩ In addition to the gender they partially identify with, they may or may not identify with another gender, or lack thereof (like agender).

⚩ Demigender people can use any pronouns.

⚩ It doesn't matter which gender was assigned to them at birth. It doesn't matter if a demiboy is amab or afab, for example.

⚩ Libragender is similar to demigender, but it's more specific because it describes someone who is mainly agender with then a partial connection to a gender.

As mentioned earlier, you can be demigender if you partially, but not fully, identify with any gender.

Demiboy and demigirl are the ones most used; by

1) transmasc and transfem people who don't fully identify with the opposite binary gender from their agab (they may also describe themselves as (wo)man-aligned non-binary people), or

2) by people who feel a disconnect from their agab, but not to the point of experiencing discomfort/dysphoria.

You can identify as a trans man/woman and a demiguy/demigirl simultaneously for convenience. You can always use more or no labels.

You can be non-binary, but identify more (though not fully) with a certain (binary) gender.

You can check similar or related identities such as libragender, paragender and pseudogender.

⚩⚩⚩

🗒 Note: Some of these gender identities are less frequent among gender-variant or non-binary people. Either way, it's interesting to know what language people created to match how they feel. All identities, not indicating harm towards others, are to be respected, even if you yourself can't understand them. Some identities may be more common among neurodivergent, especially autistic, folks.

Don't be an ableist/enbyphobic @sshole. Let people explore themselves.

I still have no clue what my gender is, and thinking about it too much gives me anxiety and stresses me out 👁 :lips: 👁

Thanks. I try to do that but i just keep thinking about it and Eventually i just start getting stressed again. I keep getting confused with pronouns and i keep thinking that I've found the right label, but then it feels like my gender just changes or it just doesn't feel right anymore.

If it soothes you, you can try an all-encoming label like "pangender" or "genderfluid". Then you know, whatever you feel in the moment, that's it; that's your truth and it's ok if it changes because the fluidity is the constant.
