WARNING: This poem is extremely cringe worthy and sounds like a picture book. You've been warned.

The Ballad of the Mighty Dinosaur

The Story of the Dinosaur and the Cat

Once upon a time,

In a land far away,

There lived an old dino,

With no friends to his name,

And he'd frown and he'd snarl,

And scare everyone away,

Every last creature, except for the cat.

They were the only one who stayed.

He'd mutter and stare,

But the cat didn't care,

And it continued to sit by his side.

Until one day, at last,

The old dinosaur snapped,

And told the cat to go away,

But the cat turned their head,

looked at him and said,

"Are you really sure about that?"

"You cry and you punch,

Thinking of insults for fun,

And you ignored everyone who said hi.

But I don't think you're that tough,

Because though claim it's fun,

You always eat lunch,

Talking to yourself."

The dinosaur looked around,

Then grumbled and frowned,

Crossing his arms on his chest.

"Do you really believe that YOU can fix me?"

He said, eyes fixed on the ground.

"I know that I can," the little cat said,

"But first, you have to accept that you are a part of this too."

Summary

My poem was about how I used to be a very quiet loner who didn't talk to people very much and pushed everyone away, but then I made some very persistent friends who got me to accept that I'm not entirely as tough and independent as I thought I was, and through them I discovered that I did have a more gentle and caring side that could get hurt, which is represented by the small cat in this poem who isn't very strong or tall but is very important to the dinosaur. Ironically, the cat represents the agender/genderless portion of my gender, which although is rather small, is the reason that I don't care about confirming to gender stereotypes, whereas the more masculine side of my personality is the dinosaur, who likes to pretend that he's strong and powerful, but worries much more than the cat about what other people think of him, so he just doesn't let them get close enough to tell him and hurt him.

Also, I just love cats, dinosaurs, and dinocats.
