Hello there!
Welcome to Wu’s Reviews, one of my lesser known series on Lego Amino where I - well, review Lego sets!
Up for review today is the new summer 2019 Ninjago minifigure pack. And I certainly have thoughts! I do indeed. So let’s take a closer look at what is contained within the pack!

Here we have the pack in its entirety. As you can see, the pack contains 4 figures with assorted accessories and one very small side build. As with all of these figure packs, the main emphasis is on the minifigures, as they are undoubtably the key selling point of the set. The parts all come in a small baggie inside of the package, so there are no numbered bags. The instructions are also just one piece of double sided paper, so nothing special there.

Taking a look at the first - and undoubtably the most valuable - figure in the set, here we have Clutch Powers! If you don’t know who Clutch Powers is, you can do a bit of research and find out more about him.

This figure is definitely the reason why a lot of people will be getting this set, as this is the first time that this recognisable Lego character has actually appeared in minifigure form!
The face is double sided as you can see below.

The torso is fine although I’m unsure as to why it is a slightly different design as portrayed in the show. In the show, Clutch doesn’t have this utility belt either, so it’s a curious design choice. Regardless, getting the utility belt piece in black is very nice, and you also get a spare!
The torso is very nice indeed, and the back printing is also a nice added touch.
One thing that could have been done better for this figure would be the inclusion of printed legs. In the show, Clutch has some pretty distinguishable pockets on his tros, which the figure lacks.

I’m unsure if this is accidental or just pure laziness on Lego’s part, but it’s a bit of a letdown. Fear not, however, as the situation can be remedied. By adding my own different legs piece from a different figure, I managed to replicate the in-show look.

Next up is Kai, and wow...

Do you see it? The glaring problem with this figure is that this is not the new Season 11 Kai figure. This is a terrible merger of Season 11 Kai’s hood and sheath with the Legacy Kai’s torso and legs.
There really isn’t any excuse for this. This is just pure laziness on Lego’s part. For me, this isn’t much of an annoyance as I don’t personally own the Legacy Kai minifigure; however people who already do own the Legacy Kai figure will probably be frustrated when they pick up this set and get (essentially) a duplicate figure.

The new for 2019 hood with the symbol on it is actually very nice. The new sheath piece is also a really exquisite piece and looks particularly impressive in person. The new sheath holds only one katana sword this time, but I think that that is perfectly fine. Additionally, the design of the sheath and the hood is clever - these pieces come together and line up the hood to the exact centre of the minifigure’s head. It’s cool!

The torso and legs are, as mentioned previously, from the Legacy Kai figure. The print is fairly simple, nothing too interesting here. The golden dragon that curls around the figure is quite nice though.

Here is a Blizzard Samurai, and this is another somewhat disappointing figure for me. These new blizzard samurai have new pieces that have been made for them, including the new helmet and armour pieces, which look awesome.

However, the samurai in this set features no new pieces at all! That’s a huge letdown, and especially frustrating for people who don’t want to have to pay more money to get the newer pieces by buying larger sets.
I think this is a crude figure as it doesn’t contain these new pieces, however the face print is decent and is double sided.

And finally here is a Pyro Viper! THIS is how you correctly include a minion (take notes, Blizzard Samurai!).
This figure is just well done. I know it’s just a minion, but it’s still really cool. The prints are very nice, and the new head mould is a very useful and unique piece.

The new armour piece is also an interesting piece that has a very nice design, reminiscent of the Vermillion armour from Hands of Time. The armour also has a stud on the back for additional attachments.

As mentioned previously, the new head mould is very clever. I believe it’s dual moulded, with brown and trans-orange for the fire effects and the eyes of the snake.

The design of the head to line up with the armour is also a nice touch. The head is also able to attach like any normal minifig head to a torso.

Finally, there is a very small side build that isn’t too special. It features a lot of those 1x1 circular studs with a hole in them in trans-blue, so it’s a nice way to get those pieces if you don’t already.

You also get some ice and fire effect pieces which are a nice touch for additional weapons to be used by the minifigs.
Well, that’s the new Ninjago 2019 summer minifigure pack! Hope you enjoyed the review, and stick around because I have a lot more content coming out very soon. ;)
