Dr. Cedric: Doctor Ashton Cedric recording a therapy session for Horizon subject A-zero-zero-two-six. The day is tuesday, date third of may and the hour is.. Quarter to six post meridiem. Good evening twenty-six.

26: Evening, doctor.

Dr. Cedric: How was your day?

26: Eh.. Kind of boring..

Dr. Cedric: How come?

26: They keep running the same tests over and over, day after day. I wake up and have a doctor check my health status, then we have physical training in the main hall and after that lunch. After lunch we practice shooting and then they run some more tests. They always stick a few needles in me and take blood samples. After that we do some cardio until we can barely stand and then it's back to the room where I fall asleep. Day after day, doctor. When will they let us out?

Dr. Cedric: You know I can’t tell you that, twenty-six. You and the others will be free to go once our research is complete. It is for your own good. The world is not yet ready for your kind.

26: My kind? But, doctor, am I not human..? I know the wings stand out, but there’s-

Dr: Cedric: No. You’re not. You are.. More than that.

26: What do you mean, doctor?

Dr. Cedric: Nevermind that. Let’s just get today’s work done and we’ll talk about this at a later date. Sounds good?

26: Yes..

Dr. Cedric: Good! Now. I am going to show you a series of pictures and you are going to tell me exactly what you feel at first glance. Try not to think about its content too much, okay? Just focus on what emotions you feel.

26: Okay.

Dr. Cedric: Here we go. , there are no wrong answers twenty-six.

26: Uhm.. Happy.

Dr. Cedric: Alright.. Why is that?

26: Well. Because.. It’s a nice picture..?

Dr. Cedric: Care to elaborate? What exactly makes you happy about looking at this drawing?

26: Hmm.. I dunno.. I guess, because the two people are smiling? People smile when they’re happy, no? They’re happy. Which makes me happy too.

Dr: Cedric: That’s good, twenty-six, very good. We’ll do another, ready?

26: Jesus. Okay.. Let’s see.. I feel, a bit frightened.

Dr. Cedric: And why’s that?

26: Because the man has no head and there’s a human skull in front of him. It’s creeping me out..

Dr. Cedric: I see. Very well. Last one, ready?

26: …

Dr. Cedric: Well?

26: Who is that?

Dr. Cedric: This is a painting twenty-six. Not an actual person, you needn’t worry.

26: Oh..

Dr. Cedric: So? What do you feel?

26: I feel.. Sad.. Lost.. Despaired even.. The thing in the painting looks just like me.. Only that he is broken in spirit.

Dr. Cedric: Alright. We’re done for the day, twenty-six. You may return to your quarters at once. We will speak about what I said earlier on a later date, alright?

26: Okay, Doctor.

Dr. Cedric: Oh and before you leave. Take that book from my shelf and, should you find some spare time during your boring day, do give it a go and read it. It would do you good.

26: Thank you, doctor.

The subject leaves the room

Dr. Cedric: This concludes today's therapy session with Horizon subject a-zero-zero-two-six. Additional note to self, the subject’s cognitive capabilities have advanced past our expectations. Taking special precautions when taking pictures of deceased test subjects for association exercises during therapy sessions is advised. Applying mere image filters was.. Pointless.
