Day 6: Favorite Red Clan (HOMRA) Member?

Hm. I’d say for me, it’s the three ‘original’ of HOMRA: Kusanagi Izumo, Mikoto Suoh, and Totsuka Tatara. Now I know for Day 6 I’m technically supposed to only pick one, but here’s the thing. I already did both Yata and Anna for Days 2 and 3 respectively. And Yata is my favorite of the whole show, but I’m not gonna do him in another post cause....I already did him. So. My next favorite characters, at least in of HOMRA, are these three, and no. I cannot pick just one. They’re tied for this position, to be perfectly honest.

Now, I like Kusanagi because of his character. He’s calm and collected. Most of the time. And he’s also very friendly and pleasant. He acts almost like the ‘dad’ of the group, and I find his dynamic with his two best friends to be really great to see. I also really like his dynamic with Anna after Mikoto dies, since he takes of a guardian-like position in her life. It’s really sweet. I also like how he interacts with Yata. Like, ‘tired dad’. He’s fond of Yata, that’s obvious to see, but also frustrated by him to a degree. I just really like Kusanagi. He’s a great character and I love everything about him from his personality to his overall design. He’s just....great.

Mikoto, on the other hand....I like him. He cares about his clan, you can tell that for sure, and it’s made even more apparent in “Memory of Red”. I like him because of his struggle. He’s temperamental and violent, but he doesn’t necessarily want to cause widespread chaos. I love the way he interacts with Kusanagi and Tatara, and I just find his overall character a joy to watch. He’s a little rough around the edges, sure, but I love his loyalty and how he instills loyalty in others. He has a soft side, and you can see it in the way he treats everyone in his clan, especially Anna. I just think that, despite his lax attitude, he’s a really great character and a fantastic King.

Tatara...he makes me sad. I I didn’t think much of him when I watched the anime, but after reading the manga....I understood everything then. He was essential to HOMRA, he held the clan together. He reminded them to be human and have fun, and that you don’t need to fight all the time. He was the ‘weakest’ member of HOMRA, sure, but he was also one of its most important . He was kind and loyal to a fault, and he was so incredibly trusting. Too trusting, really. It’s what got him killed in the end. But he’s just so...amazing to me. Even when he was dying, when he had to be in incredible pain and he so scared....he was trying to comfort his friend. He’s so incredibly kind and genuine, and I really loved seeing him in the manga.

All I can say about these three now is, I really look froward to seeing more of them in Seven Stories.
