Welcome to the Third Task!!

────────────────────────

Hello HPA and welcome back! The Triwizard

Tournament is almost over, with only one more

task ahead. Our teams so far have all proved to

be worthy champions, putting in blood, sweat,

and tears - or more accurately frustration and a

lack of   sleep - into   their   latest   posts   and

fanfiction. Be sure to check out their hard work!

────────────────────────

With such long blogs to read, and ones of such

high quality, it did take our judges an extra few

days to make it through, which is why this task

has been slightly delayed. All dates for the rest

of the tournament will be shifted accordingly.

────────────────────────

While we may not be revealing those results in

their entirety today, after all a little mystery goes

a long way, I do want to   take a moment to

praise each school for all they’ve done.

[C]Hello HPA and welcome back

────────────────────────

Team Beauxbatons started us off strong with

an excellent,   thought-provoking    analysis   of

Snape’s personality. As a main feature of their

blog,   they    considered   how   his   upbringing

impacted his decisions in the long term, giving

in-depth    and    insightful    thoughts    on    his

characterization.   They   fulfilled   every   single

expectation and designed   a perfect   post in

every way!

────────────────────────

With team Durmstrang, my favorite part of their

work was   the   creative   fanfiction.   Selecting

such a   pivotal moment   in Dumbledore’s life

and   sharing   new   points-of-view,   it   was   an

astonishing approach to the task and one that

exceeded my hopes. It was quite the inspired

post that kept me quite captivated!

────────────────────────

Last but   not least,   Hogwarts   offered us an

exquisitely detailed background. Piece by piece,

they taught me new truths about McGonagall

and challenged   what I knew.    Alongside   an

unexpected but beautiful edit, this team had a

flawless presentation   and a meticulous blog

that blew me away!

────────────────────────

All that being said and done, I am confident that

everyone here is curious about our task three. I

won’t leave you in any more suspense, so let’s

get straight into the rules and rubric for this

challenge.

[C]Hello HPA and welcome back

────────────────────────

You’ll all surely be glad to hear there are no

more posts to make this time around. Instead,

task three is an escape room hosted through

team chats.

────────────────────────

Your tournament hosts will run the escape room

by sending one clue at a time, so that teams

can only advance to the next challenge after

completing the one before it.   If an incorrect

answer is submitted, a secondary clue will be

offered.

────────────────────────

Each team must choose a time to begin their

escape room in the next three days. The more

champions available at this time, the more help

they receive in solving each puzzle. Teams may

use the internet to solve the ciphers or finish

the puzzles but they cannot discuss results or

consult anyone outside of their school chat.

────────────────────────

If necessary, according to the demands of the

champions and hosts schedules, the escape

room can be paused between clues but it must

ultimately be finished before 11:59pm GMT on

February 20th for full points.

[C]Hello HPA and welcome back

────────────────────────

The types of clues found in this escape room

include: acrostic puzzles, anagrams, baconian

cipher,      beaufort      cipher,      caesar     cipher,

crosswords, cryptograms, elder futhark runes,

four square   cipher,   logic   puzzles,   keyboard

cipher,   mazes,   music sheet cipher,   periodic

table cipher, pigpen cipher, puzzles, railfence

cipher,    tap    code,     trivia    questions,    word

searches, and word sudokus.

────────────────────────

Points are awarded based on the number of

“rooms” completed   and   whether   they   were

finished   with   one   clue   or   both.   Additional

points are given   for every image puzzle (i.e.

mazes and more) completed in its entirety. The

majority of points, however, are achieved based

on the speed of finishing teams. The fastest

team earns the most points, followed by the

second fastest and then third fastest.

That   is it   for   this   blog!    If   you   have   any

questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. We will

be back on the   23rd with a final update on

team scores and rankings. Thank you all for

your hard work so far, I can’t wait to see this

tournament going out with a bang!

Sincerely, Aurora Crouch Sr.

And Corinne Crouch Jr.
