Trade Machine: Marcus Maye

Hello Gridiron! Welcome to another edition of hopefully many different posts involving the trade machine. Where I have listed a player and you are supposed to make a realistic trade for that player. Now I just want to throw this out here right now, a lot of the players I will be listing in the future have been in trade talks which is why I put them on here. However, they may not even get traded at all in real life. Anyways, this is just supposed to be a fun, little series proposing mock trades for the player I have listed. I have also decided to give a brief description of why exactly the player I have listed is in trade talks and a little bit of background information.

Now the most upvoted comment that is a realistic trade for Marcus Maye will receive 10 or 15 coins. There will also be 100 coins awarded to someone if they can guess a trade exactly before it happens. And I may delete comments that are super unrealistic and just a joke.

Today’s Player: Marcus Maye (New York Jets)

Currently playing on the franchise tag, Marcus Maye wants a long-term contract and the New York Jets have been unwilling to give him one. While he has stated he doesn’t want to be traded before the deadline, Jets GM Joe Douglas may look to trade Maye before the trade deadline for the right place so they can get something for him if it’s likely he is going to walk in free agency. Since Maye is already going to be 29 years old by the time the 2022 offseason comes around, him being paid big money on a rebuilding team isn’t likely a scenario the Jets want to deal with.

Injured and facing charges from a DUI arrest in February that only came to light a few weeks ago, Maye hiding the arrest from the Jets organization shows a lot of separation between the two sides, which may lead to a trade as well. After all, Joe Douglas has shown he isn’t afraid to deal veteran players at the trade deadline after getting rid of Avery Williamson and Steve McLendon at the 2020 trade deadline. As for teams who may be interested in him, the Cowboys, Chiefs, Buccaneers, Ravens, and the Rams are just a few teams that have been mentioned in the Maye sweepstakes.
