Saw 6 AKA Saw VI Review

Horror fans as you all will have noticed i've been working my way through the Saw films in a random order. I will it that I guess I was kind of doing it in the build up for Spiral otherwise known as Spiral: From The Book Of Saw but that honestly wasn't even in my mind when I started it but now here I am on the sixth film of the franchise and so Saw fans here is my review of "Saw 6" AKA "Saw VI" enjoy.

The plot of the movie is insurance executive William Easton has been choosing who lives and who dies well now he is the next person to play one of Jigsaw's games meanwhile Peter Strahm's fingerprints have been found on several Jigsaw traps and so it's up to Agent Dan Erickson , Agent Lindsey Perez to find out what's going on and Detective Mark Hoffman has to stop before his own secret is revealed. Now that is how you make a movie with a pretty thin plot sound freaking epic all joking aside tho the story is rather thin even for a Saw movie it's pretty thin and when there is a story showing it's pretty freaking basic you like you know where the story is going and so there's no surprises in alot of cases when it actually goes there.

Returning from previous films are Costas Mandylor as Detective Mark Hoffman , Mark Rolston as Agent Dan Erickson , Betsy Russell as Jill Tuck , Athena Karkanis as Agent Lindsey Perez , Tobin Bell as John Kramer , Shawnee Smith as Amanda Young , Samantha Lemole as Pamela Jenkins and many more. ing them are Peter Outerbridge as William Easton , Scream Queens season 1 winner Tanedra Howard as Simone , Shauna MacDonald as Tara Abbott and Devon Bostick as Brent Abbott.

In my opinion the acting in the film is honestly pretty good i'm not going to lie and say that it's great because it's not. However it is some of the best acting in this series which is really saying something because the acting in this series is typically really good and so to say that the acting in this film is the best in the series should give you all a good idea as to how good the acting in the film is.

This franchise is really good at making people who are side characters in one film the main characters in either the next or a future film. Like think about Amanda in the first film was a very minor character and in the very next film she becomes the main character well the same is true for the character of Pamela Jenkins who as I said is played by Samantha Lemole she has a very minor role in Saw 5 and in this film she's basically a main character and it's a good example of how good the world building in this franchise really is in my humble opinion.

This film is around and hour and a half long and it really didn't feel that long while I was watching it. That's because the pacing in the film is honestly so good no scene lasts longer then it needs it gets it's point across then it goes and because of that the film flows so well with the overall police mystery getting as much attention as the main game which was something that is a very good thing in my opinion.

Now believe it or not there's actually a good mystery in this and I don't mean if Peter Strahm is alive or not because honestly we ll knew the answer to that going into this film but rather what the connection is to the three groups in the main game. Which honestly was something that I felt was done rather well and it all leads up to a great freaking twist ending since we are led to believe all throughout the film that the mother and son in one of the traps is the wife and son of William but it turns out there related to someone that he refused to help at some point in the past and that Pamela who's also in the trap is William's sister that was a great twist because even tho i've seen this film a dozen times I was still shocked at the twist.

This was also the feature film directorial debut for Saw franchise editor Kevin Greutert who for his first feature film does a really good job. I'm honestly shocked that this guy hasn't directed more films i'm honestly looking at his Wikipedia page right now and he's only directed a handful of films which is truly shocking because the man knows how to make a really freaking great movie.

There are a few things that I really didn't like the first of which being that they brought back Agent Lindsey Perez (Athena Karkanis) even tho we saw her die in the fourth film. Even how they explain her being alive to me just felt like a cop out especially since the franchise was always grounded in some form of reality and so for her to somehow survive getting an object in her throat to me jsyst didn't sit right.

The second thing is they made the police seem far to dumb these are highly trained professionals and yet they need everything spelled out for them. Making things worse is that they somehow made Athena Karkanis dumb as well since in the fourth film she actually showed that she was capable at her job where as here she provokes someone who she knows can get quite violent and is near a knife.

I know that it's a cliche to talk about the traps in a Saw review but I honestly have to mention the traps in this film simply because there for freaking cool. I don't know how the makers of the Saw films kept on coming up with cool traps but I feel that they honestly peaked with this film because of the fact the carousel is such a cool idea and from a cinematic point of view it also adds alot of tension because it could stop and someone could die at any moment plus the dude who dies last in that trap just overacts like hell and it's hilarious.

Overall yeah this was a fun movie does it have it's fair share of issues hell yeah i've not even begun to tackle them because if I did i'd be here all day just talking about what's wrong with the film. However that doesn't mean that those issues should be ignored because they shouldn't but given that this film could have turned alot worse given we had a first time director making this movie be thankful that we got something that's somewhat entertaining and so this film gets a 6 out of 10 from me and in the words of our goddess Elvira unpleasant dreams.
