Well guys it may be the End of an Era for one of the best cars my Family has ever owned. Last week, Wednesday to be exact, my Dad was involved in an accident in his 2008 Mercury Sable. Someone in a Lincoln SUV came out of a side parking lot onto the main road slamming into the Drivers side rear door/quarter of the Mercury. The hit was so hard that it spun my Dad's car around 180° until he slammed into the curb facing the opposite direction on the road.
The Damage

As you can see, the rear drivers door took the brunt of the hit. The front drivers side wheel was broken off of the suspension and other drive components when his vehicle slammed into the curb, and the rear axle was also shifted towards the enger side rear of the car due to the hit. Surprisingly though, the airbags did not go off and no glass was broken. My Dad also suffered no major injuries other than some sore muscles, so thank God for that!!
What Now?
Since this accident is so recent we really haven't heard anything yet. After the accident it was towed to the local Ford dealership where the insurance company will look at it and make a decision. Like I said, my dad was hit so none of this is his fault and as a result the other persons insurance is taking care of everything. We're really hoping that the car can be fixed because we all love it and frankly my Dad doesn't want a new car or another car payment. For now however, the insurance company has set my Dad up with a 2018 Toyota Rav4 as a rental car until everything is figured out. It's nothing spectacular but it does what we need it to do.

As always guys, I'll keep you posted as this process continues. Thanks for reading!!

Damn dude I'm glad ur dad is alright but rip the sable era. I posted me getting rid of mine and then I see this
Yeah it's sad. The last week we got news that the Insurance company declared it totaled so we've slowly been doing some car shopping. Unfortunately the Car was 10 years old and had 165k miles on it so we didn't get a whole lot from the insurance company. The important thing is that My Dad is alright thought, and we're so thankful for that.
If he liked that Sable, I would look at an impala or a fully loaded 2003-2008 Lincoln Town Car. You'll know it's fully loaded it it has a rear sway bar
We'll see what happens with the Sable and then go from there. I know he'll want something similar to the Sable in of age, MPG and of course luxury.
Thank God he's ok. Sorry bout the car though. Hope the car will be fixed soon.
That's what we said!! I fully believe that if that SUV hit directly on the drivers door he would've been much worse off.

Well thank goodness that it never happened.
Such a shame, we have a 97 Lincoln, it’s proved us quite well, my parents are trying to get it repainted at my tech school

Those actually sip gas. Before I tore into mine I was getting 22mpg average, about the same as my old V6 Buick sedan. That surprised me since the Buick was 500lb lighter

That's actually better than I was expecting. He got about 25-27mpg in the Sable which has the trusty Duratech 3.5L V6.

Mileage drops like a tank once you tune them, but they get good mileage otherwise
I take it your dad's ok? That's brutal man
Yes. As I said in the post, he's pretty sore but that's it.
