Those who have been following along for a while, know that I like to keep things original. To me there's just something about the look of a clean OEM car that I absolutely love!! However that can come at a challenge when I want to spice up the look of my car. However the 2001 Nissan Maxima is special because there happen to be multiple OEM options that can be added to make it special.
Anniversary Edition
2001 Marked the 20th year of the Maxima so Nissan produced a limited Anniversary Edition, as pictured below:

This 20th AE model included things like:
1) 10 piece ground effects kit
2) Chrome "MAXIMA" inscribed door sill kick plates
3) 20th AE shift knob
4) BOSE audio system
5) Leather seating
6) Smoked out headlights
7) Special engine cover
8) 20th AE ignition key

In my opinion this special edition is absolutely beautiful, especially that ground effects kit. It makes this car feel extra sporty without being overstated.

The Mods
Naturally I took my love for this special edition Maxima and bought a few 20th AE pieces for my car.
First up:
I bought the 3 piece front Aero kit. I got super lucky with this one finding it in the rare AX5 Merlot color. I found this kit on ebay and paid $180 despite it being in rough condition, because you just don't find the AE kit in this beautiful color!! I'll definitely have to do some reconditioning work to get it perfect but that'll be a great weekend project for me.

Next:
Shortly after purchasing the front Aero kit one of my friends on Instagram let me know that she was selling some AE parts. So I jumped on the opportunity and got some chrome "MAXIMA" inscribed door sill kick plates. They're also not in the best condition but I gladly paid $62 because again, you just don't find them very often. Plus I think they're a great addition compared to the old black plastic ones that came on mine from the factory.

Anyway, that's my little update for now. I hope you guys like these little mods because there are more on the way!! :eyes:

That’s a smart Maxima. Always thought the US ones looked the best. Much tidier front and rear ends, and the Aero kit makes it look that much sharper.
Thanks man!! The US spec 5th Gen Maxima's are my favorite.
Looken good!!!
Thanks bro!!
Looks good! Makes me miss my Maxima. Lol
Thanks dude!! I know, I think I'm the only one on here who still posts Maxima content. The others who had Maxima's have either sold or wrecked them.
That aero kit looks great and the sill plates are cool. One thing I might do though (this is just my opinion) is to remove the front plate holder. I did this to my accord a while back and even though the paint is chipping and I have a screw hole in the bumper now its Mich better than before. (Note the bumper and hood have seen some things since I removed it)

That makes sense. What does the front bumper need?

It mainly just needs a respray but there are a couple relatively large gouges in it too. All of which was on the car when I got it.

Oh that's not too bad but I see why you want to respray it. Its hard to tell but my front bumper is a peice of garbage. I'm waiting for a gold accord with a good front end to roll through the local junkyard to replace it.
That aero kit totally changes the look of the car :ok_hand: 🏻
Ikr, and the only parts I have right now are the front pieces. I can't wait until I can put together a whole kit and throw it on the car!!
