"Nagisa, stop pointing out every foreign licence plate! You're distracting me and I will turn this car around!"

"Geez Gou, you sound like my mom!"

Nagisa stuck his tongue out at their driver and manager as they pulled into the competitor lot.

"Guys I think I'm gonna be sick." Rei told the other four. "Maybe you should turn around."

"Will you shut up already! We have worked way too hard for you to be a wimp at the last minute!" Nagisa chewed his nervous friend out in the middle row of the van, while the back was a lot more peaceful. Makoto had fallen asleep against the window a few hours back, while Haru was listening to the playlist Makoto made for him. He was a bit nervous, sure, but more just itching to swim.

Haru poked Makoto in the arm, almost immediately getting a response.

"We are here already?"

Haru offered back a short nod and got back to staring out of the window. The stadium really was huge, with a giant statue of the Olympic rings in front of it. As soon as they found a spot to park, Gou and the boys got out and stretched.

Once they were out, Nagisa dragged the group to the statue of the rings. He got a erby to take a picture of the team in each of them. Haru stared straight ahead in the blue ring, Rei was adjusting his glasses in the black one, and Gou's eyes traveled away from the camera, favoring the muscular men walking by them. Naturally, Nagisa took the yellow ring and Makoto the green, each making half a heart to connect with their hands.

The opening ceremony was later that night, but only Gou seemed to care. She kept drilling them on how they should act, where they should stand, how they should look, etc. Each of the boys were too anxious or excited to pay much attention to her, however.

The night came faster then anyone expected, and it was all a blur. Lots of formalities before hand, a cool show during, and a shocking surprise after.

Rei, Nagisa, Haru, and Makoto were swimming for Japan. Each had an individual event and then the relay. That was to be expected of them. What they didn't expect, however, was who they saw after the ceremony.

"Rin! You didn't tell us you were coming!" Nagisa tackle hugged his friend, the other three turning to see what was happening.

"Yep! I'm representing Australia, our team is pretty big."

Haru suddenly felt anger rise within him, his words escaping before he could contain them.

"And you couldn't bother to tell us that, huh? We told you we would be here! What the hell?"

Makoto grabbed Haru around the shoulders and turned him away, trying to deter the curious crowd forming around them.

"See you around Rin." Makoto led the team back to Gou through the sea of people.

"See ya?" Rin was hurt and confused by what had happened. Wasn't this a good surprise?

By the time the Japan team got to their hotel room, they were beyond exhausted. Gou, Nagisa, and Rei all fell right asleep. Makoto and Haru, however, sat on the balcony together. They watched the stars and tried to ignore the chilling breeze of the night.

"Haru? Why are you so upset at Rin?"

Haru didn't break his gaze into the night while replying. "He didn't give me a chance to prepare. I wish I was ready for him sooner."

Makoto sighed and looked over, hugging his knees to his chest to keep warm. "But Haru, you're already amazing! Rin or not, you've been training for this moment since we were kids! He can't change that by being here."

Haru stood from the ground and wordlessly went inside, leaving Makoto under the stars alone. Makoto was beginning to worry that he made Haru mad until he felt the sudden warmth around him.

"Your blanket?" Makoto looked down and Haru wrapped the blanket around him.

"You're cold."

Makoto chuckled and directed his attention back to the stars and thought of their events to come.

"Haru, do you-"

He looked over to see the black haired boy asleep against the wall. Makoto couldn't help but smile warmly. He wrapped Haru back in his blanket and carried him to bed. Makoto then went to his own and shut off the lamp the others neglected. They had a long journey ahead, and the best thing to do now is rest.
