“Should We Save Each Other?” ~ Chapter Five

The entire atmosphere was awkward around my sort-of colleague and my new friend who felt very familiar. They refused to speak with one another and eye was very rare. Neither of them even spoke to me, which was a surprise.

“Okay, what’s going on?” I questioned, annoyed. “This silence is choking me to death. Did you guys fight?”

Luhan poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue. “No, we did not. It’s just that -”

“ - we share a ton of history,” Sniper finished, sighing. “The two of us sort of dislike each other. It may not seem like it, but we do.”

I could sense Luhan’s change of aura. “Don’t lie to YeonRa,” he said to him. “It’s very obvious to the point that Renjun, out all the the in your popularity hierarchy, thought I was blackmailing you. Do you realize how much he mentally damaged me?”

As I took mental notes, I started to notice Sniper’s mood swings. I’ve only known him for just a day, but it felt like ten years. One minute, he’s very angry, then an ecstatic smile would frame his angelic face. I wanted to ask if he was okay, but the darkness in his aura was actually frightening me. Maybe I’ll ask somebody else about him after school is over?

“He did damage to your reputation? I never knew about that,” Sniper said. “Still, there’s no need to hold a grudge against me. It was his fault, not mine. Get over it.”

Picking out my phone, I peeked at the time. School was finished for the day and Mother texted that she would be home late. Cutting off my two friends’ argument, I notified them that I’m going home.

“Should we go with you?” Luhan asked worriedly.

“She’ll be fine because she can actually protect herself,” Sniper reasoned. “Thank you for the tour around Muyell.”

I smiled. “Please try to solve this conflict between you two. I can’t help because I don’t know the core reason for your rivalry,” I explained, then walked down the hallway. Obviously, I had to retrieve my drawstring bag before, so I wasn’t going to leave yet.

Although I was far away from Luhan and Sniper’s argument, its tension still stuck with me. The tense atmosphere was not dying down - in fact, it’s darkness abruptly increased. My hands were noticeably shaking as I stowed away books in my bag.

Ignoring the lingering tension, I threw my bag over my right shoulder, adjusted the straps, and headed towards the school garden. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there, and since my friends were busy, this was the perfect time to be alone.

“There’s the girl who ruined my reputation at Muyell!” a voice loudly barked, making me flinch. It did not take a whole brain to know who was cursing me.

“Leave me alone,” I hissed back. “I didn’t even do anything. It was that Sniper guy,” I added, turning around to look Baekhyun in the eye. “I don’t want to fight, alright?”

He smirked confidently. “It’s not like you would win against all ten of us, anyway.”

I furrowed my eyebrows. “Wha -”

Harshly, both of my arms were grabbed from behind. I struggled against the strong grips as another hand clamped my mouth shut, then moved down to my throat. My breathing was cut off as the hand squeezed it.

“We’re going to take our anger out on you,” a voice said from behind me. “Don’t worry, it’ll be very quick. Unlike Yaru, I know exactly what we’ll do to you, YeonRa.”

The world faded to pitch black.
