Today I am telling you about...

Meeting Donner!

If you don’t know who Donner is the I will tell you! He is Lynn Symanski’s horse and together they do 4 star eventing. They have been to the olympics, the WEG, Rolex, Burlington, and Bton! I got to meet Donner because one of my mom’s best friends boards one of her horses at Lynn’s barn and is best friends with Lynn. I did not meet Lynn. I am so so SO grateful for this amazing experience.

But... let’s get into it!

On The Way There

The drive from where I live to where the barn is is an hour and 15 minutes without traffic. The entire drive there I was so so so excited and I was actually on EA a lot of the time because I usually sleep on long car rides but I was to excited :satisfied: . I was imagining how beautiful and spectacular this barn was gonna be. Then before we went to the actual barn we met my Mom’s friend at this little coffee shop. My mom and her friend chatted about adult stuff and I sat there drinking my tea and sorta listening.

To The Actual Barn

From the coffee shop to the barn I literally couldn’t sit still in the car. I was so excited and my mom was a little annoyed but understood my extreme excitement. Then we went down this road that the farm was on and it must have been at least 3 miles before we turned into the farm...

The Tack Room

So the first part of the barn we went into was the tack room. This had a lot of Lynn’s ribbons, coolers, blankets, and a lot of what she has won. We then looked at all of he’s BEAUTIFUL saddles and bridles. There were so many nice saddles I didn’t even want to touch them :joy: . Then I got the biggest shock of the entire day. I GOT TO HOLD THEIR RIBBON FROM WEG!!!! At first I was resistant to touch it because I didn’t want to ruin it and possibly drop it. Eventually I got myself to hold it and I got a picture with it!

DONNER!!!

Omg let me tell you this. He is BEAUTIFUL. One thing I would have NEVER guessed is that he is actually extremely spooky. When we walked up to him in his little field behind his stall he completely spooked and bucked and bolted out of fear. Then again, he is an ottb. He eventually calmed down once he realized that I had carrots for him. We then got some really nice pictures and he got a lot of carrots. Then when we walked away he spooked again 🤦🏻‍♀.

Parker

Then we got a ride down in a golf cart down to where my mom’s friend’s horse’s stall is. Since I’m small I sat in the trunk part of the golf cart. It wasn’t closed in obviously so I could still breathe, don’t worry. Then we saw her horse. He’s a 17.2 hand off the track thoroughbred gelding named Parker. His show/racing name is Sleeping Tiger. Despite his enormous size he is the sweetest big thing you would ever meet or want to meet. I then led him up to the main barn and I was actually the first kid to ever lead him in his life! You will see in the pictures just how small I am compared to him!

Yup, that’s Parker Pants. Then when I groomed him I of course had to stand on a stool because I physically could not reach his withers and back without the stool :joy: .

I then took him back down the hill to his stall and we got even more pictures! He has SUCH good ground manners! He stops when you stop right at your shoulder, he walks when you walk at you shoulder, he doesn’t even try to drag you unless there is grass and he wants to graze, that did happen to me. Let me tell you, it is NOT easy to gets 17.2 hand horse to stop grazing :joy: . Now for even more pictures!

Saddest Part

The saddest part was obviously when we left. Then of course we got stuck in traffic on the way back. Then we went to our barn for my lesson which I am not going to make a blog about because it wasn’t a good lesson and I don’t really want to talk about it.

I am SO SO SO grateful for this amazing experience and I am so lucky to have been able to do all of this. It was a truly great time.
