Ever since my first watching of Lilo and Stitch I looked up to Nani in many ways. The way she looks after her younger sister after their parents die, how she brings in all the income for the house and how she would do anything for her sister. She was the first ever feminist I looked up to. She wants things to be equal, she is a woman of colour too and she is the best big sister to Lilo. I still think of Nani as a role model now!
Disney throughout the past well 100 years has made some great women and female characters despite what many critics and people say. A lot of people think that these women in Disney are just bland and stereotypical, to that I say you really don’t know these girls/ women, do you…I’m guessing you didn’t watch the movies!
To me a lot of these women in body the biggest struggle, and I think one of the saddest and yet realistic things that as a woman I have to endure: being kind in a cruel world.
I know a lot of people would disagree with me that an example that I like to choose and who is well my favorite…Pocahontas…I know I am bias…but as I explained previously Pocahontas is a great character. She doesn’t fit the mold, she has a playful personality and a wild free-spirit. As a person who tends to be cautious, I tend to ire those traits. She is smart and witty at times. She like most heroines tended to think out side the box. She also stood her ground when needed, and was willing to give up her life for what she believed in and for the ones she loved.
But one of the main things she taught me was being kind in a cruel world. She taught to respect others and treat them how I would want to be treated. Even though they didn’t look or believed what I believed. She was the only princess that was open enough to teach me that valuable lesson.
Although the world was sometimes against her, she tried her best to respect and be kind. When the world wanted war, she valued and strived for peace. And even though sometimes like most people, she did stumble a few times. But it was important, Was she got back up and strived to do better!
And as mentioned before she was willing to die for the one she loved and willing to stand her ground, even if it meant death. She also encouraged others (like Smith and her father) through her kindness to be kind and merciful to a world that was cruel and merciless to them, as well. And I think that truly shows what it’s like to be a woman.

Although this challenge is about just one of your favorite female characters I would still love to give some recognition to other female characters that also inspired me through the years: Snow White, Esmeralda, Mulan, Elsa, Belle, Merida, Kida, Anastasia, Nala, Kiara, Vetani, Cinderella, Aurora, Kim Possible, Shego, Captain Amelia, Tigerlily, Wendy Darling, Snow White, Venturis, Ashoka, Alice, Ariel, Jasmine, Moana, Megara, Raya, Namarri, Tiana, Rapunzel, Lilo, Nani, Sofia, Elena, Maid Marion, Giselle, Judy, Mirabelle, Isabella, Luisa, Candence, Lady, Sadness, Kala, Jane, Elenor, Pearl, Nakoma, Sarabi, Anna, Jane, Eilonwy, Shanti, Jessica, Sally, Helga, Bea, Maleficent, Ursula, Minnie, and Daisy.
I know there are so much more but we would be here hours… I know the names above are just a assortment of letters or names, but to me these women define what it’s like to be a woman and I am glad they not only taught me the best and proper ways to be a proud and kind woman, but to be myself in this cruel world.
Ooh maybe u can make themes too!
only pfps atm, but maybe sometime in the future!
One of my favorites is Miss Piggy. She’s got so much personality and fight in her. Miss Piggy is not your typical heroine character, but did you see her in Muppet Caper??? She’s a baddie with style.
