A lonely gate sat isolated on a normally Karnacan street but it was all quiet, behind it lay quite a large shop with weapons of all kinds, under that same 'roof' there was looked to be a blacksmith's dream forge. The sun had barely risen as a blonde-haired woman approached the storefront's gate with a key in hand, removing the lock she lifted the gate and set it in place. The woman caught a glimpse of herself in the window as she went to unlock the Forge, she was grinning ear to ear, it didn't matter how early it was at least she was happy. With the Forge unlocked she went behind the counter, setting her coat up on a hook behind a counter she began setting up the displays properly. This lonely shop by itself lit up the street even if no lights were on within the shop, it was clear it had ion and heart behind it, now all that was left to set up was the woman's favorite area, the Forge. Walking directly to the Forge she opened a cabinet that was secured tightly against a wall, taking out a container half full of whale oil she moved it into a powered post drill. Picking up a handful of wood she tossed it into the unlit forge, quickly lighting it; it wasn't hot enough to heat metal by itself but it was a good bed for the coal that would be shoveled in later. Walking back behind the shop's counter he sat down, mentally preparing for the worst part of her day, a Gristolian man by the name of Dragovich and his gang of goons that came and embarrassed themselves regularly. The door to the shop swung open, a small bell chiming as it did.

"Welcome to Ryder's Smithy wha-" She couldn't even get a full sentence off before being interrupted.

"No need for formalities girly, your father was always so insistent on paying his protection fees... besides how is the ol' man anyway?" Every word that came out of this man's mouth sounded rude, it was the accent.

"My father's, doing great, living out his last years comfortably, no thanks to you breaking his hands and cutting off his fingers... strange how I still have all of mine isn't it?" She knew what buttons to push, this man had to bring four other tough-looking men to go intimidate some girl, she wasn't scared by him in the slightest.

"We'll we wouldn't have to resort to this then I guess, you insolent bitch." Ryder raised an eye at that, this man had never had the balls to curse at her, let alone have an insult paired with it... maybe this man had grown half a pair.

The four other men in the shop reached for the swords and other various weapons on display, but quickly stop as a shot rang out through the shop and Dragovich fell on the floor, clutching his chest, Ryder stood across from him and shot glares at the four men.

"Grab your leader and scram if you know what's good for you!" She had two pistols in her hands trained at the men closest to her, she was fine with being insulted be she wouldn't be stolen from.

Stepping away from the man and back behind the counter, keeping the pistols trained on the men, she waited as they all carried their leader out and probably to the nearest doctor available. Unloading both pistols she placed them back beneath the counter and sighed.

"Well now I probably need to ask Sebastian for a favor, maybe Paolo as well... but then I'd be siding definitely with one side, ugh I wish the Guard would just do their bloody job." Ryder mopped for a minute, she'd have time to make deals after the day was out.

Sonia meaning wisdom and Ryder meaning Knight or mountain warrior makes for an awkward semblance of Wise Knight. It can be summarized in its meaning as the person carrying the name is a person to lean against in times of crisis, a solid unmoving boulder against a landslide.

Sweets - A nickname too sweet to ever leave outside of immediate family, it originated when Sonia herself was very young, she'd go around the Bastillian street in front of her families shop and try to offer help to the Whalers pulling up a whale or someone carrying seemingly heavy crates; honestly she's lucky that attitude never changed.

Girly - A nickname held in by one man and his gang, she hates it and more often than not will completely ignore it if she ever hears it.

Black-Hands - Something one of the Howlers said to her while she was working on a batch of swords, due to that her hands were covered in coal dust. This nickname stuck for a while till a nosy Overseer overheard a conversation and brought several Overseers to search for 'objects relating to the Outsider', as well as searching Ryder herself for any mark of the Outsider. That very same Overseer did eventually become a customer of Ryder's but gets charged more on the basis that "Tyvian Ore costs more and can easily break during molding." None of which is true, she simply charges slightly more because of that situation he put her in, she intends to drop the prices back to standard eventually.

Not to say she's covered in freckles they mostly condense around the middle of her face, but over nearly all of her body she had freckles.

She has quite a long scar going from her eyebrow down across her left eye and ending just under it. The story behind the scar isn't interesting, it's rather embarrassing actually. When she was putting the finishing touches on a sword she had placed in a vice, the sword wasn't properly secured and when she pushed down on it the sword swung up and grazed her eye deep enough to leave a scar but with no permanent damage. Other than that she has a few scars across her body, none she could tell you the exact origin of.

Sonia has a rather good relationship with her father, he did get her into carpentry as a hobby, after all, she will occasionally exchange letters and also sometimes send small gifts she carved or made.

Sonia has a rather good relationship with her mother but is closer to her father, although her mother is the reason Sonia doesn't forget a single thing in bookkeeping for her store.

Even though he's several years younger than her Sonia irers him to some extent, especially since father lost his hand, he's stepped up quite a bit.

Tobias Ryder is a Serkonian boy who is currently ten, being a boy he doesn't have much of a job but does help around the shop somewhat.

Astrad Ryder is the newest edition to the family (by one minute) He's a Serkonian boy who is currently three, naturally he doesn't have a job. Sonia doesn't have much of a relationship with him and only has seen him a few times, but she's kind to him.

Astrid Ryder is the second newest edition to the family, she's a Serkonian girl who is currently three, she also doesn't have a job of any sort. Much like Astrad, Sonia doesn't have much of a relationship with her but is nice to her whenever she sees her.

Ellie Ryder a Serkonian woman who is currently eighteen, she's taken quite an interest in plants and biology and is studying to pursue an education in The Academy of Natural Philosophy. Sonia is quite happy for Ellie, pursuing higher education is rather outside of family norms, but she wishes she would be less pompous about it.

Axel was quite a loner of a person, it surprised everyone around him when his interest was quite so loud and work-related. He hid whatever ate at him well, being mysterious he was different from most people in Bastillian, instead of being loud and abrasive he was quiet and indifferent to many matters.

Sonia tries to not let his death eat at her, but she feels responsible, after all, Dragovich followed her from Bastillian.

Sonia is a hardworking person, which who isn't? But she is quite devoted to her work, even if it's to somewhat of a fault. Alongside that she's quite honest and generally a reliable person, she'll always get done any reasonable request on time or even before the requested time. Some say it's her best trait, but being perceptive and reading the room, she's generally rather good at catching onto things quicker than most.

Despite her family's given the nickname of 'Sweets' Sonia can be incredibly rude and blunt at times, simply saying what comes to her mind when she thinks it, it's a part of her impulsiveness as a person. Sonia isn't necessarily a one-track mind person but she can be quite stubborn on certain issues, ranging from death or how to make a sword properly. Some Bastillian's would argue it's a good trait but Sonia is quite high energy and too much at times with how quickly she works, she'd be an awful teacher to someone not adjusted.

Two main things make Sonia truly quite angry, assaults at her family, and stealing from her. Her impulsiveness acts first in these scenarios, for example when Dragovich ordered his men to take from the displays, she shot Dragovich, not fatally, of course, she hardly believes in ever going that far.

Sonia objectively isn't an anxious person, that being said everyone has their moments. Once during a rather complex forging process, she went to quench the blade and was biting the nails on her left hand while doing it with the right, she display it quite outwardly with physical emotion.

She scarcely displays this emotion outwardly, she acknowledges the way she deals with it is bad for her but she doesn't want to burden others. If someone were to persuade her to open up in some ways, she'd most likely talk for an hour or maybe even more and be almost brutally honest.

She occasionally will become embarrassed, like if a blade comes out bent after forging and has to be put back in, especially if the person who ordered the blades is there for it. Sonia has a rather good 'poker' face in of being frightened and doesn't outwardly display the emotion, immediately after however she momentarily shuts down. She's rather frightened whenever she has to deal with a crime boss or high-up official as she doesn't necessarily know if she could restrain the words that come out of her mouth.

She's not necessarily easy to please per se but is made happy by simpler things, like a surprise visit from family or friends, or even receiving a gift out of the blue. Sonia is almost always at least a little bit nervous before finishing any project, she doesn't exactly express the emotion emotionally, more she'll tap her fingers on a table or something nearby or tap a pen.

Insults against her family and friends get to her somewhat, she doesn't enjoy people talking about others behind their back, her motto for it being "Well then go and tell them." Sonia's had a few 'flings' but never a proper relationship, she does rather find people attractive that are somewhat like her in of interest or upbringing someone she could talk to and they'd understand it without question. She gets jealous of people that are quite simply objectively better at what she does than her, she looks at the works of Jindosh or Joplin and is simply amazed by making a simple idea complex or a complex idea simple. Ironically she shares this trait with her cousin, that she gets rather inspired to start working on something whenever she sees something she deems so much 'greater' than herself.

Being the firstborn of a carpenter and former pirate, as soon as her hands could be full they were, at six years old Sonia was helping her father sand down furniture and then deliver it the very next day. The times for her 'education' were limited and the time for herself was even less so. Whenever her father wasn't busy and her mother wasn't berating her to study, Sonia spent perhaps too much time listening to former pirates tell tales of the sea and the "good ol' Bastillian", it wasn't just her either several children always gathered around when pirates spoke of the past life they led, it was ensnaring to a point; the allure of the sea that was so close. Despite some of her other siblings being born her childhood was large in part uneventful, not many dared mess with the family that built-up houses.

Sonia wasn't stupid by any means, but as a teen she did some especially dumb things, she was already quite unnaturally strong and rather tall at Fifteen and ended up implicating herself in several brawls and fights. It wasn't uncommon for her to come home with bloody knuckles, her father being understandably unhappy with this night-to-night occurrence and sending her to become an apprentice at a blacksmith's Smithy. Ironically instead of acting as a punishment this sparked a love for metalworking in the girl, granted the outcome didn't matter it was merely to get her off the streets and out of fights. After roughly a year she had made her first sword on her own, it was awful, off-balance, and nigh impossible to properly sharpen, the outcome of the sword didn't particularly matter she was just ecstatic to have made something on her own. Naturally, she got better at it from there rather quickly, ending up being competent enough to take customers orders, around this time she met the blacksmith other apprentice, a boy two years younger than her named Axel, he could scarcely make a dagger without bending it but he was the only one that could keep up with her pace and movements around the shop, it wasn't uncommon to see her running across the shop to take the metal out of the forge with a black-haired boy following behind her with gloves in his hands trying to hand them to her.

A man from her father's past had become an ever-looming presence in her life, Dragovich he had initially been welcomed as a friend shouting some nonsense about a group of assassins following him that wore masks and blades with filers near the hilt of the sword. He was welcome in the Ryder household till she raised a blade against her father and took half of his fingers on one hand. Sonia beat the man half to death and threw him out of the house, this proved to be quite the mistake, but it wasn't as if she thought about it at the time. Some months afterward she was bound for Karnaca with a rather sizable sum saved up intent on opening her own Smithy near the docks of Karnaca, the blacksmith that trained her had sent Axel along with her, but besides Axel, she had picked up a nasty parasite bearing the name Dragovich that followed along. Going through the hurdles of acquiring a property in the city was tedious, to say the least, setting up the shop was even more tedious, between both the docks and the Green Grouse Apartments, hauling anything heavy was left primarily to her, granted it caused quite a laugh for her getting odd stares as she carried an anvil down the Karnacan streets. Thankfully business came quickly, Sonia had made sure to choose a competitive location, too close to the docks and she'd never get any business due to the established smith there, but right in the middle saved people coming from the upper districts away from the docks time and money. Yet it couldn't be said that everything was good, Dragovich had followed them to Karnaca and roughed up Axel when he was in the store alone, even worse he had gathered a gang around him. Then one night it truly happened, Sonia stepped out for what must have been at most fifteen minutes and came back to an Axel bloodied up on the street in front of the shop clutching a slightly warm unfinished, and completely broken blade. Sonia tried rushing him to a doctor but he had either died as she arrived or just before.

Sonia has found herself in a rather profitable as a blacksmith, both the legal side of it and the illegal with a perfect balance of both. Serving both the gangs of Karnaca and the Guard and Overseers, which after a certain point what's the difference? The difference is the amount they'll pay, gangsters tend to pay more for quick delivery and legal officials tend to pay more to keep it quiet, an Overseer getting reprimanded for having his blade repaired every couple of weeks is much happier to pay a few extra coins to get the blade repaired quietly. Yet other than the repairs and the occasional bladesmithing, Sonia finds herself with a distinct lack of things to do, enough Business to stay open but she's done more key replicating than blade pouring since she's moved to Karnaca. It's odd to say by Blacksmith's work is oddly seasonal in some ways.

Inspired by the rumors of a folding sword, Sonia had fashioned herself a folding spear with a single-sided blade, this spear folds the blade in on itself as well as in half for storing purposes; this spear has its holster of sorts strapped to her upper thigh.

She carries two pistols that slot neatly into two holsters on the back of her belt.

On the occasion that she's not carrying her spear she keeps a knife slotted into her boot.

Sonia is very much a street fighter, she's quick enough but focuses on overpowering the opponent quickly with one to two strikes, ideally when using her spear she tries to end the fight quickly, although if involved in a long fight she has the stamina to continue with it for quite a while.
