Hey peeps, it's Jimmy. The blogging team's latest theme is about our personal favorite Hero/Villain origin story. So I decided to base my blog around my personal favorite villain origin story, Mr. Freeze. Keep in mind that all of this is my opinion and should be taken as such. Without further ado, let's get started.

Mr. Freeze is one of those villains that I can't help but feel sorry for. He started out as a scientist who worked at Gothcorp. He was married to the love of his life, Nora. He loved his wife and would do anything for her. When she got diagnosed with a deadly disease that had no cure, Freeze with her permission, froze her until he could find a cure. While researching for a cure, an accident happened in his lab, causing him to live in sub zero temperatures. In some versions, the accident was caused by his boss, Ferris Boyle. After the incident and his research money was cut off, Freeze turned to crime to fund his research in hopes that one day, he would have the cure for his wife's disease. He's fought Batman on multiple occasions and most of the time, Bruce kinda feels sympathy towards him. It's something we see in the Cold Cold Heart DLC for Arkham Origins (my personal favorite DLC in the franchise).

It's simple really, in his pre 52 origins he was just trying to do everything to save his wife, even if he had to do bad things. Sure, it doesn't justify what he does, but I think we can all sympathize for the snowman. There's a reason "Heart of Ice" won an Emmy. People love sympathetic characters, another example is Arthur from Joker. If you have a really well written story, sympathetic characters can leave an impact on your readers.

I hate how they changed his origins in the New 52. It's one of my complaints with that Batman series. It just got rid of the most important thing to the character.

I have a few questions I would like to ask you peeps, before I end off this blog.

1. Is Mr. Freeze a Villain You Can Feel Sympathy For?

2. Why Do You Think People Love Sympathetic Villains?

3. What Is Your Personal Favorite Villain Origin?

I hope this spawns some fun conversation in the comments below.

The End

Well that does it for this blog peeps, it's a bit shorter than I wanted, but I hope you enjoyed nevertheless. As always have a great rest of your day/night and keep being awesome DC fans. - Jimmy
