Taking Tim on patrol was a bit of a shaky decision, but it was one that had to be done. The routine of patrol was the perfect way to give Tim a needed adjustment for such a long time away from patrol. Of course, he worked in close proximity to Jason. If anything were to go wrong, he'd be near someone close who could do what had to be done. Not to mention, their connection was still going strong and Tim's subconscious needing to be around him was still high.
Their task was simple. Take down a few robbers and check in with Gordon. It wouldn't be as thrilling as Jason would have liked, but it was easy enough to warm Tim up to patrolling. The robbers struck the bank, taking hostages while they waited for their getaway car. Gordon was on his way, but until he got there, they had to stall the robbers until then.
Taking them down wouldn't be hard. Jason was confident that this wouldn't be difficult. With a few gestures, he and Tim snuck into the bank. An opening showed itself pretty quick as Jason blitzed towards one of the gunmen. Tim wasn't too far behind, attacking the other gunman. Keeping it nonlethal, Jason shot towards the first gunman's leg. Tim, keeping himself low, threw several hits at the gunman before flipping and kicking the gunman's face. With both of them down, Jason and Tim aimed for the last robber. They both threw a punch at the robber, hitting him in the face.
Deciding to stick around until Gordon arrived, Jason and Tim stuck inside of the bank. They took a moment to help calm the hostages before taking a few steps aside. Tim fell to his knees, taking in a deep breath. A little startled, Jason quickly approached him. Crouching down, he placed a hand on Tim's back. Tim welcomed it, leaning forward slightly. The sounds of sirens meant nothing to them in the moment.
"You okay?" Jason hastily asked.
"Yeah." Tim sighed. "I'm just a little tired."
Jason nodded in understanding. He couldn't deny that that was a possible outcome from this. That said, he was glad that Tim was able to get through the mission without an issue during it. Had he, who knows what Jason would have done. Not to mention what that would do to Tim mentally.
"You did good for your first night." Jason complemented.
"Thank you." Tim accepted with a small grin.
Jason slowly helped Tim back up noting the sirens had reached their peak. Leaving soon became increasingly promising. Officers could be heard entering the bank and apprehending the robbers. Behind them, Gordon, who was ready for questioning when he noted Tim's fatigued stated.
"Is he okay?" Gordon inquired.
"He's fine." Red Hood replied, letting Red Robin lean on him. "He's been out of commission for a while so he's a little out of it. Had an injury that needed a bit of time to heal."
That made sense. When Gordon hadn't seen Red Robin in a while, he had assumed that the young vigilante had simply gotten out of Gotham for a while. Not that Gordon could blame him. Red Robin could have easily been hanging out in Jump City with the Titans. After all, Nightwing had done so repeatedly, going to Bludhaven, so him leaving wasn't unheard of. However, being out of commission was an equally common reason. Regardless of the motivation.
"Are you hurt?" Gordon asked Red Robin.
"I'm good, but thank you for the concern." Red Robin responded.
"I'm going to get him home so he can rest." Red Hood stated. "You got this handled?"
"Of course." Gordon responded with a nod. "I hope you feel better soon kid."

Jason carefully covered Tim. The return was quick and harmless, which Jason was thankful for. Bruce was understanding of the situation and didn’t blame Jason for not wanting to return to patrol, despite Alfred being plenty prepared to overlook Tim. However, Alfred would keep an eye on both. Jason would stick in Tim’s room until he felt comfortable leaving.
“Do you think you could Conner in the morning?” Jason inquired. “I think Tim could use the companionship, and Conner has been in town interning under Leslie at Gotham General. Apparently to ‘better understand his human half’.”
“Of course.” Alfred agreed from the doorway.
“Thank you.”
Jason let out a sigh. Alfred entered the room further, standing beside Jason. Looking at Tim, he was glad that he was resting, but could understand Jason’s unspoken concerns.
“He’ll get better.” Alfred noted.
“I know,” Jason sighed, “it’s just hard to believe that it’s been a crazy few weeks.”
“Indeed it has. For you and young Timothy more than anyone. Adjustments are still being made.” Alfred shrugged. “Why don’t you get some rest Master Jason? You need it just as much as he does.”
