Holo, DCE! It’s Wondy, and as you may have noticed by the title, today, I am bringing you a deep dive into Diana’s role in the wizarding world and how it would work.

As the phrasing of “deep dive” implies, this will be a lengthy blog. I know not everyone is a fan of longer blogs. Still, I encourage you to push through and read what I have to say in each section, though, as a lot of thought and hard work was put into this.

As always, will be much appreciated in the comments. I’ll try my best to reply to each and every one of them, so go for it.

I hope you enjoy.

𖠄⋆ ཾ༵༵༅┊Hogwarts

The first topic that I wished to cover in this blog is probably the most obvious one: What Hogwarts house would Diana be sorted into?

This is oddly a tricky question, as she could truly fit into all of them. Gryffindor would be the perfect place for her warrior spirit and fierce courage to thrive. Ravenclaw would be the epicenter for her thorough education and wise nature to show to its full potential. Hufflepuff would accentuate the kindness, hard work, and peacemaking she wishes to shower upon the world. Slytherin would be the ideal environment for her strong senses of ambition and cunning that fuel most of her decisions.

The Sorting Hat would definitely face what many of us Harry Potter fans have come to know as a Hatstall. Don’t know what that is? Let me explain.

To put it in simplest for our Muggle readers and less avid fan witch and wizard audience, a Hatstall is when the Sorting Hat acknowledges that core parts of your personality fit really well into multiple houses, so it has to debate what would be best for you in the long run, or what your heart would desire the most. According to the wiki, the process has to take 5+ minutes to be considered a true Hatstall.

In this situation, I suppose that I am the Sorting Hat. I’m assessing the various aspects of a character’s personality and fitting them adequately to the workings of each Hogwarts house to see which is best for them. So you could say that all of the deliberation behind this was its own Hatstall.

After taking some quizzes, both official and fanmade, I made some progress. After pouring over excerpts from the books and a few wikis, I got less indecisive. I believe that after the Hatstall, Diana’s Hogwarts house would be revealed to be . . .

*drumroll*

That’s right! Diana is a Hufflepuff. If we were talking about the fandom’s Hybrid Houses, she’d be a Huffledor/Gryffinpuff. Out of all the tests I took, one result wound up being Gryffindor with Hufflepuff as a close second. She is a courageous warrior, so I can definitely see Gryffindor as a strong secondary for her overall.

But what about the Hufflepuff part of her characterization? Well, like I stated before, the house would bring out her hard work, kindness, peacemaking, etc. That’s the ground work for it.

The core part of why she’s a Hufflepuff, though, is more than those three things. Diana fits well with the quote “You might belong in Hufflepuff, where they are just and loyal. Those patient Hufflepuffs are true and unafraid of toil.” It’s in her nature to be just and loyal with the peace and heroism she achieves. Truth also matters to her, and she’s willing to face any challenge to do what she feels is right.

There are plenty of other traits attributed to Hufflepuff that adhere to Diana, most of which are quite easy to pinpoint and understand. But what would she be if she DIDN’T go to Hogwarts?

𖠄⋆ ཾ༵༵༅┊Ilvermorny

We now take our wizarding adventure to the American school of wizardry, Ilvermorny. Now, some of you may be wondering “Why not Beauxbatons, Wondy? Or Durmstrang? They were in the Triwizard Tournament!” Trust me, there’s a good reason for why I won’t be diving into them.

Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, and any other school I’m forgetting to mention that is similar to them, have at least one thing in common: They don’t seem to be divided into Houses.

Based on the book descriptions, character appearances in the game A Hogwarts Mystery, the films, etc., I have come to the conclusion that these schools aren’t divided into Houses. There’s probably even some canon article that says they aren’t. It surely would have been shown or mentioned if any of them were. Ilvermorny is viable for proper discussion in this blog because it isn’t like them, as it does have houses.

𖠄⋆ ཾ༵༵༅┊A Deep Dive Into Some Wondrous Wizardry-[BC]┎┈┈┈┈┈ :hearts:  :hearts: ┈┈┈┈┈┒

[C]┊ ┊ ✦

As most of us probably know, the Sorting Hat is utilized at Hogwarts to distinguish students’ personalities so they can be best organized into one of the four houses. At Ilvermorny, it’s different. The ceremony takes place in the large, circular room that’s just past the front doors of the school. There, each student stands in the center and one of the statues that represents each house will choose the student. The Pukwudgie raises an arrow it has, the Horned Serpent has a gem that glows, the Wampus cat lets out a roar, and the Thunderbird flaps its wings. I also believe that each statue shifts forward a bit to further indicate their choice.

Unlike the Sorting Hat, the students have more of a choice with their house when it comes to the statues. At Hogwarts, if the Hat considers more than one house for a student for a moment, or even goes full on Hatstall, it’s still usually left almost completely up to the Hat’s decision instead of student preference. With Ilvermorny, if more than one house fits a student, multiple statues will react and the student is free to choose whichever one they feel they’d be comfortable or happy in.

Wampus represents the body and warriors.

Pukwudgie represents the heart and healers.

Horned Serpent represents the mind and scholars.

Thunderbird represents the soul and adventurers.

So which does Diana belong in?

[C]┊ ┊ ✦

That’s right! Diana is a Horned Serpent.

For Diana, I feel like three of the statues would choose her. Wampus, Horned Serpent, and Thunderbird all work really well for her, so it seems like they would all choose her. She fits their criteria. She’s a warrior, is very intelligent, and has been known to be adventurous.

Now if we we’re talking about Hogwarts, I would say that she’s either a Wampus or a Thunderbird. One of those would fit with her personality more than Horned Serpent, but at Ilvermorny, the choice is completely up to her when multiple statues choose her. Based on her personality, I believe she would choose Horned Serpent.

Diana’s intelligence is only a small part of why she would choose Horned Serpent, and she may not even consider it in her choice. In many storylines over the years, DC has played around with mentality-based storylines. Rebirth even started off with Diana questioning her mind and the events she could recollect. She questions herself. A house that involves the mind and those willing to learn would be the best thing for her in that respect, so that’s what she would choose.

𖠄⋆ ཾ༵༵༅┊Companion

With her stance within school houses out of the way, what sort of animal companion would she have?

At Hogwarts, students are allowed to have an owl, a cat (Kneazles have some leniency for often being bred with or by being close to cats), or a toad, even if the Weasleys managed to get a rat cleared as their pet. At Ilvermorny, students are allowed to have an individual cat, Kneazle, snake, owl, bat, rat, toad, Jackalope, and a number of notably magical creatures or hybrid animals. You can easily tell which school is more lenient about pets, especially since the only definitely banned animal (that I know of) from Ilvermorny is the Pygmy Dragon (and any species similar enough to it by association).

What would be the best for Diana, though?

[C]┊ ┊ ✦

Diana in the comics has had a cat named Sadie and a kangaroo named Jumpa. Kangaroos aren’t on the non-magical pet list for either school I’ve assessed for her, so sadly Jumpa would have to be a pet she has back home and visits during the breaks from school, if she had her at all. Sadie’s a cat and those are allowed, so the answer seemed simple, but I wanted a companion for her that was considered magical.

At Hogwarts, since Kneazles are close to cats, Diana would likely be able to convince the heaster to allow her to have one. They’re also one of the magical variants of the non-magical animals that Ilvermorny allows. In the wizarding world, Sadie could definitely fill this role.

Kneazles are described as independent and intelligent. They gave a good intuition when it comes to guiding their owners away from danger, untrustworthy people, etc. They are said to also have a good sense of direction, and this allows them to lead their owners home or to other places of safety needed. Their nature can be aggressive to certain people who give them a bad vibe, but let’s be real, that’s any animal that feels off around anyone.

This would be an ideal breed for Diana just because even Wonder Woman needs guidance. Especially if she’s school-age and dealing with magic. It can even pay homage to Jumpa, as she’s an abnormally large species of magic kangaroo, and Kneazles are an abnormally large breed of feline.

Sadie would have to be a half-Kneazle just because that’s the only way Diana would be allowed to have her at Hogwarts. Ilvermorny allows full Kneazles to my knowledge, as long as the student has the paperwork or other permissions to even have the feline. Hogwarts is a bit of a buzzkill, but it’s just because most places with authority in the wizarding world see the aggression thing as an issue.

𖠄⋆ ཾ༵༵༅┊Wand

We all know that the wand chooses the wizard. Each wand has its own unique wood, core, flexibility, and length. All of those attribute to the wizard’s use of magic, and can help assist the quality of their spells alongside of their natural skills and techniques.

So what sort of wand chose Diana?

After sensing the magic within her and the potential she possessed, our Amazonian princess found that her trip to Ollivander’s would not be fruitless. The perfect wand found its way into her possession at 13 inches in length, dragon heartstring for the core, redwood in material, and supple in flexibility. But what does all of that mean?

𖠄⋆ ཾ༵༵༅┊A Deep Dive Into Some Wondrous Wizardry-[BC]┎┈┈┈┈┈ :hearts:  :hearts: ┈┈┈┈┈┒
[C]┊ ┊ ┊ ┊ ┊ ┊ ┊ ┊
[C]┊ ┊ ┊ ✭ ✭ ┊ ┊ ┊
[C]┊ ┊ ✦

According to the JK Rowling’s Pottermore articles that are now on Wizarding World, dragon heartstring cores produce the most powerful wands that are very loyal to their masters, but in turn are also easy for their master to use the Dark Arts with. This suits Diana’s own sense of will and her natural divine empowerment. Her wand, like those two things, should be able to allow her to do all the heroism she attempts with ease. It’s also fitting that the wand can be easily used with the Dark Arts, as DC is known for easily making Diana randomly evil for their AUs.

The length of the wand simply just refers to her height, based on my guess. Most wands tend to adhere to a general rule about height just so a very tall person doesn’t have to awkwardly struggle with a very short wand and vice versa. Diana has never canonically been shorter than 5’10” from a comics standpoint and her current height in the comics is 6 feet exact. As a cisgender female with Diana’s canonical height who grew up hearing “You’ll never get to enjoy the girly things because you’re too tall and tall people should play basketball and blah blah blah”, I can concur that it could be annoying to deal with holding an item that doesn’t fit well with the proportions of your height. There is only some variation to this wand rule in references to power and flexibility, from what it seems.

Once again, Jo, as controversial as she is, provided us with an article on wand woods and what they mean. The redwood part of the article states that while the amount of redwood that is viable to be made into wands is limited, it’s only due to the fact everyone wants the good luck the wand supposedly brings, though “redwood wands are not themselves lucky, but are strongly attracted to witches and wizards who already possess the irable ability to fall on their feet, to make the right choice, to snatch advantage from catastrophe.” This adheres to Diana in the sense that she strongly parallels each of those descriptors with the energy that she’s portrayed with, and the flexibility of her wand just means it’s willing to reasonably adapt to her power levels and how powerful her spells wind up being.

𖠄⋆ ཾ༵༵༅┊Patronus

Next, let’s talk about her Patronus. For those that don’t know what a Patronus is, the best way to explain it is: When a witch or wizard casts the spell “Expecto Patronum”, it generates the likeness of either an animal or a magical creature that represents the caster’s personality and protects them against dementors.

𖠄⋆ ཾ༵༵༅┊A Deep Dive Into Some Wondrous Wizardry-[BC]┎┈┈┈┈┈ :hearts:  :hearts: ┈┈┈┈┈┒

[C]┊ ┊ ┊ ✭ ✭ ┊ ┊ ┊
[C]┊ ┊ ✦

For this category, there is only a little bit to say. Diana’s patronus is a bloodhound and it’s quite fitting. I found no solid answers on its meaning from anything JK Rowling has deemed canon, but the fandom seems to agree that this patronus usually finds people very much like Diana. It’s said to match with people who have good morals, trustworthy intentions, peacemaking natures, strong ambitions, etc.

𖠄⋆ ཾ༵༵༅┊Boggart

This next topic I want to bring up is Diana’s boggart. A boggart is an ogre-like being in England that shapeshifts to be its viewer’s worst nightmare. Ever wonder what the whole Snape in a dress thing was about? That was Neville’s way of dealing with his boggart.

Diana’s boggart would definitely take multiple forms. I feel like it would be ever-changing from second to second in its appearance, but the meaning would stay the same. She’d be presented with the likenesses of her friends, fellow Amazons, and perhaps even a number of civilians she recognizes. All of them would be people she failed to save, people still alive that she’s worried about failing, and so forth.

I just think that makes the most sense for her, as she wants to do right by everyone, no matter what, and she has gotten very down on herself for even the slightest bit of failure in that respect.
