Art Request: Tsukiyama

Hello~!

The third person to drop a request in was Ota, who asked for Tsukiyama...and this has to actually be my favorite thing I’ve drawn in my life!

Time: 10 hours 15 minutes

Materials: My phone, my finger

I decided to draw him with a classy glass of “wine,” and made it pink to keep it pg-13, which I thought added a cool effect. I drew him in his ghoul mode, as well. While drawing him, I learned that the Watercolor tool existed! This helped me SO MUCH with skin and lips. I also learned how to use the Airbrush tool to give things a glowing effect. I finished things off with the hatching tool for the background. :3

How did you make the glass look like real glass?

Oof I’m glad it looks real :joy: I was actually trying to figure that out too!

I used white highlights based off a picture of glass, and realized that glass reflects light off the sides, which is why there are two white stripes on the sides. Then, I noticed that on some pictures of glass you could see the reflection of the window, so I made light opacity white strokes in a rectangle, but had the white curve at the bottom to follow the bend of the glass.

For the handle part, I just outlined it with a darker color and then used a medium-dark color to blend it into the light part, putting more color on the left side, since that’s where the shadows are.

Finally, since there was color behind the glass, I looked at a picture of glass with a colored wall behind it, and realized that the color was a bit distorted within the glass. To represent this, I made the color behind it a little lighter in the glass.

I guess if I was doing traditional art, I would use white for the side highlights, white with a little color mixed in for the window highlights, and the wall color with a little white mixed in for the color of the wall inside the glass.

I’m not sure how I would do it without color, but I guess it would be easier to make the wall color grey so that you could see the white highlights.

Wow, that was really long, sorry. I tried to explain things in different ways because I’m not sure what type of artist your are. Hope that you could understand some of that, because I’m terrible at explaining things. :joy:
