Hello everyone!
Summer is officially here in my area-- kids are out of school, the sun is shining, Phineas & Ferb has its new season in a little over a week, and... well, the dreaded Lilo & Stitch remake came out.
Lilo & Stitch, in its original form, is a beautiful and heartwarming story about family-- the ones you have and the ones you find. You know, ohana. No one gets left behind or forgotten.
Now, even if you haven't seen the remake, I'm sure you've heard about how the head writer wanted to "redefine ohana". The core message about family was shifted, changed in a way that made many people very upset.
The family in the original is stranger, sure, but it's much stronger for it.

Family is a very important element in MANY cartoons.
The families could be big or small. You could be born into it, or you could find it. The aforementioned Phineas & Ferb, The Amazing World of Gumball, Gravity Falls, DuckTales... they all show very strong family bonds. They get tested, they have issues, but they come through together and are stronger for it, in the end.

This, as always, leads me to today's question...
Besides Lilo & Stitch, what animated family do you think fits ohana the best?
Let me know down there in those comments and have an amazing week!!

Ok tbh *mainly because im sick of people shitting on me for it* The Live Action Lilo and Stitch remake didn't mess up the ohana message.
And my example for Ohana would be Pixars Coco and ironically The Willoughbys.
Both Families are definitely flawed but will go out of there way for the other because of love. Whether there blood related or not

Interesting perspective. I didn't consider that.
The Wiloughbys is on Netflix. Definitely recommend it. The parents are awful but the kids are the exact opposite.
#found family

I'd watch but I'm currently in the middle of rewatching the entirety of Phineas & Ferb to prep for the new season! Definitely not gonna be caught up before the season drops but I'm trying :sob:

I think that the Heeler family really fits the definition of Ohana.
No one gets left behind when you’re with the Heeler family even if you’re not a part of their family they’ll do anything to help out a friend or a family member in need especially if they’re going through some tough emotions.
They aren’t the most perfect family in the world but they try their absolute best to teach their kids and their friends good moral lessons that’ll help them out in life in the long run. And to me that alone fits the definition of Ohana.
Ohhhh good pick! No family is perfect, but overcoming our shortcomings together makes us stronger for it!
