Hello guys!! I hope the year is going alright for you guys so far! :yellow_heart:
I saw yesterday that Disney's Twisted-Wonderland was getting an anime adaptation. It got me thinking about the many issues I've had with anime adaptations of Western media, especially lately. It seems that, with anime becoming popular in the mainstream, more Western corporations are seeking Japanese studios to use their IPs or lifting the art style for their own products.
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing anime influence in Western media. There was a LOT of that when I was growing up, PPG and Lilo and Stitch even had anime adaptations when I was a kid. However, many of those shows and a number of newer ones, such as Castlevania, seem like that come more from actual appreciation and love for the style.

This isn't to say that these newer shows are bad, of course not! The studios are still trying to make good products, but, like I said, the corporations make it feel like a hollow attempt to appeal to new audiences.
Now, that leads me to today's question!
How about we flip the script?
What anime do you think could get a good Western-made spin-off or adaptation?
What kind of story do you think they could explore?
This isn't to say there aren't any Western adaptations of Eastern media-- after all, Astro Boy had a movie quite a few years back!
In my opinion, there isn't a need to make new adaptations, but I thought it'd be a fun thought experiment haha!
Let me know what you all think down below!!

Power puff girls anime is
Pretty good.
Really cool and interesting question! I think SpongeBob would really thrive as an anime adaptation or maybe something like Scooby Doo. Anime usually involves more heavier topics so it might be safe to say it wouldn’t be necessarily close to the originals of the series, but heavily falling on mystery and action plots and twists as an anime adaptation would be pretty cool in my opinion.
