Hello everyone! Hope you are all having a great day!

Today here in America it is Memorial Day! A day to honor our veterans, have quality barbecues with the family, and enjoy the nice weather!

So while school is out, it's giving me time to catch up on things and of course make a blog! But today I'm going to talk about why I read fantasy more than contemporary. If you were to go through my shelves, or go through my Goodreads then you would probably come to

the conclusion that I don't read that much contemporary. And here is why!

The reason that I stared reading was from an escape from my life to put it bluntly. I had a lot going on, and it was so nice to be somewhere else than my current situation. To be someone else even. The first book I read was Twilight, well not like my first book ever, but my first book being an avid reader. Twilight was so different than my life (obviously), it was nice to be in a different world almost. At the time, reading a contemporary would've just been me reading about more real life problems and it wouldn't have been much of an escape. That's pretty much when my addiction to fantasy began! I just started to read one fantasy, and then another, and another. They're very addicting! It wasn't until I was at a good point in my life where reading a contemporary seemed fitting. Now I occasionally will pick one up every now and then. There is something about fantasy, it's ability to take you to another world so quickly. The way an author can describe this world unlike any other and it sucks you in! You know a book will be complex when they include a map and/or character list. Then you have to buckle in!

My whole thing about reading is reading what you love! Doing what makes you the happiest and running with it. Because no two readers are alike! And that's okay! Whatever reason you read whether it's as an escape, for entertainment, for the heck of it or any other thing make sure you're happy and it's doing its role. Where's the fun in reading if it seems like a chore?
