when we sleep with toys
and dream good dreams?

when we stay up late
watching action films?
Do you
those days
watching splattered raindrops
and see who'll win the race?

those days
playing Pogs and Nerf guns
on the sunny afternoon?
Do you
those days
playing Nintendo games
on a rad console?
Do you
those days
watching from VHS tapes
and the first Lion King film?
Do you
those days
when we look for treasure
and not love?
Do you
those days
when we all have fun
looking at the setting sun?
Do you
those days
eating carnival candy
at a rundown fair?
Do you
those days
when we have Bearenstain Bears
and piggy-back rides?
Do you
those days
when all our problems
were solved with a parent's kiss?
Do you
those days
the most tiring thing
was our excitement?
Do you
those days
reading comics on our beds
in a tent made from blankets?

those days
when we got
our first cell phone?
Do you
those days
when we have too much imagination
but not enough dragons?
Do you
those days
when our lives were simple
but we got some cool plans?

those days
hanging with your friends
worrying not of tomorrow?

looking up at the stars
and making a wish?

singing country songs
in a sing along toy?

all those days…
wanting to grow up fast-
what on earth were we thinking?
