Time has taken a toll on me,
but I am not one bit afraid
of whispers that beckoned me
to follow them into the shade,
They wanted me to close my eyes
and fall into their wonderland,
to fly above the blue skies
as ordained by a drop of sand,
But I would like to take a stroll
along the roads just like a cloud,
or to make up a new goal
that even the bronze bell allowed,
My days of youth were not well spent,
something that I came to regret,
but there's no point to lament
of the past that I can't reset,
I guess it is time to move on,
to follow around the faeries
up until the crack of dawn
or, at least, until I'm at ease,
But soon, I'll go on a journey,
one that is far greater than now,
one that would make me free
than an old and forgotten vow,
And I hoped that when the time comes,
I will already be prepared,
and I won't leave no bread crumbs,
for this time, no-one can be spared,
This journey is a one-way road
that nobody can return from,
a trip that ends with an ode
that could make the warmest hearts numb,
Time has taken a toll on me,
but I am not one bit afraid
to sit beside a grand tree
with elegies being played,
And from my tomb, I will look back,
memories… I hope they will last
longer than the engraved plaque
made in some old and distant past.

I don't see a lot of poets using rhyme here- most of them use free verse or half rhyme. So I applaud you! I loved the flow of the poem and it was just lovely overall. Excellent x
Thank you! But sad to say, I don't use rhymes that much. Only when I'm motivated do I write poems that has rhyme on 'em :smile_cat:
Hope that didn't disillusioned you
